Mom is watching the Oscars from...

Rehab!!!!!! We did it!! She is out of the hospital tonite at 5:30 and now she is watching the awards from her bed in rehab 3 miles from home!!! You guys are amazing. Your prayers and thoughts were answered thank you thank you thank you thank you. YAY MOM yay progress 38 days and love made it all happen!

I can't even thank you all enough! Yee hahhh! I love you guys! Thank you again! Mom knows you guys all had a hand in helping her out and she wants to bless you all. She thinks you all are angels and is sure something wonderful is in the future for all of you.

Thank you for your help the love will come back to you!

Did not watch the Oscars but looked through a few red carpet photo sites the morning after. While I agree there weren't any big winners this year, neither were there a lot of huge losers, either....mostly everyone looked presentable, at least. That light blue dress.....the fabric looked so cheap. I know it wasn't, of course, but it looked like fake fortuny with rhinestones. And Pink...what's up with the regulation short haircut brushed up stiff like that, or making long hair look like that? Pink, Jennifer Lawrence, several others. Kate Hudson, a roger rabbit refugee, brilliant, Annie! And finally, Pink's rendition of Over the Rainbow? I find it very sad that every singer has to sing songs with that vocal adornment technique that used to be reserved for soul music in the 70s. Now it is used to disguise or compensate for narrow vocal ranges and the fact that the voice cannot sustain long notes on an even tone. Nowadays a singer is a person who can sing enough, and has some schtick that makes him or her famous. Most of today's singers actually have terrible voices. The likes of Judy Garland, Karen Carpenter, Cass Elliott, Patsy Kline, Barbara Streisand and others with true star quality voices are mostly gone. Lea Michele is one singer who sometimes uses that type of vocalization but doesn't need it, and she would have killed that song at the Oscars.

I was going to say the best way is in your jammies with a big bowl of popcorn, but since you'll be with company, I guess that isn't such a good idea! We're on EST and it starts at 5:00 with "On the Red Carpet at the Oscars" and the actual Oscar show starts at 8:30 and ends at 11:00. I only see that it's on ABC. Actually, one channel is plenty, IMHO! Enjoy watching with friends. Sounds like fun!

Not my house. My friend just moved there about 6 months ago. They scaled down from a 4200 square foot house to 2200 sq ft. They completely remodeled it before moving in and it's really lovely. Yes, Liz. We all put in a dollar and we had several sheets of questions to vote on. One of my friends is a computer guru and she does a great job. I'm sad to say I didn't win. I didn't vote on who I thought should win, I voted on who I thought Hollywood would vote on. They surprised me. LOL Glenda, I love the name "giggles" even though I'm not a giggler.

I watched the first hour and then taped the rest so that I could watch Downton Abbey, then I switched back to the Oscars. I think I'll just tape them every year - then I can fast forward through the commercials and boring parts. It's just way too long. Neal Patrick Harris was surprisingly disappointing. He does such an outstanding job when he emcees the Tony Awards. Last night he was uninspiring - flat jokes, silly one liners and how embarrassing that he couldn't manage to pronounce David Oyelowo's name correctly. Some other thoughts - Dakota Johnson was stunning in her red gown while Melanie Griffith looked like she was wearing a plastic mask. Julianne Moore was radiant, Kerry Washington wore a really elegant gown, Lady Gaga sang beautifully and I for once I wasn't completed distracted with her costume. Redmayne was adorable. John Travolta was creepy. I want to tape J.K. Simmon's acceptance speech - just the part about calling (not texting) your parents.

And man was she excited that she didn't miss the Oscars in transit, I guess your gown has a built in bum breezeway the Oscar gowns look even better!

I'm late to see this, but I'm thrilled that Mom has graduated to Rehab. This group does have a lot of good energy and is always so willing to use it.

Cathy- I do believe in the power of this group! Mom is a big believer in thank yous no matter the 'gift' no matter the source. She taught us that not only do "thank you's" show appreciation to the person who did something lovely for you but they renew the faith in the giver to continue to do good and right in the future which does well for us all.

She says she's working hard and looking forward to being healthier and moving ahead. Yeehah.
