I have to share a little Grant story...

Ok so I usually just post photos of Grant and not really any stories of little things he does, but I had to share this.

Lately, Grant has really been soaking things in and just learning so much. I can't remember from my friends kids how smart 19 month olds are, but Grant seems to do something new daily that impresses me.

This weekend we were at Disneyland. We were heading back to our room last night. We got off the elevator and went to the right to walk to our room. Grant was walking ahead of all of us. He walked straight to our room and grabbed the door knob. He bypassed every other room. The room doors all look the same!! And every other time we went into the room, he was in a stroller. This was the first time he'd walked to the room. Brent, myself and my mom all could not believe that he remembered which room was ours.

Coincidence? Maybe...maybe not. But I'm impressed! :-)

Wow, Steph! That IS cool! You should test him with some little tricks at home and see what he does. :) What a little smarty pants!

Don't they (children) just amaze you..

Grant has that bright smart look in his eyes...
And with a good personallity to go along with it...

I remember when my grandson Brad was two...I had him and his sister Taylor who is one year older, with me shopping for groceries, at our super Walmart.

I couldn't remember where the peanut butter was....He calmly said....in aisle 4...sure enough it was...he has a photogenic memory. He's 8 now and he still amazes us...all the time.

I know it takes a little while for it to start really cooking and that once it does, if I add anything to it, I'm starting all over again, right? Because you won't be able to turn the pile, just fill the bin as you get materials ... keep topping it off with grass clippings, dead leaves and such, keeping a reasonable balance of "wet green" versus "dry un-green" stuff. End with a layer of dried leaves and pack them down in the fall. Let it sit until when you look about 6-8 inches down it's looking like dark crumbly stuff. If you aren't turning it and watering it, it takes longer to compost but it still gets there. By next spring you should have the center core of that bin as a nice finished compost. Candy, that's an idea. I'll give that some thought. My MIL is notorious for giving back the presents you get her. It may take several years but they always come back. Not because she doesn't like them, she just thinks we need it more than she does and hates that we spend money on her. (After 30 years in the family, I have learned to buy something that I really like.) She does all of her children that way. But I'm sure my little scissors will never find their way home because she loves to embroidery. I have several pillow cases that she has done. They are beautiful. She is blind in one eye and getting to where she can't see as well as she used to so there are some mistakes made but that makes them even more special. Some of the things we have gotten her such as embroidery thread, needles, iron on transfers and pillow cases she does not return, except the pillow cases after she has embellished them. Trust me she will not offer them back after she uses them compared to what she has been using. I have to shake my head and laugh every time I think about it. IÂm going to put this story it in my grandchildrenÂs scrap books with a picture of her embroidering. It will be a funny memory. By the way, do you hear harp music and angels sing when I mention the scissors like I do? I'm sure MIL heard them when she used them for the first time.

I don't know if I would call them happy accidents, but a few times, the item I've ordered doesn't show up looking exactly like my order. Maitland-Smith was especially bad. However, after I've waited months for an item to arrive, I'll usually make it work rather than start over. Luckily, most of the differences have still fit into my color scheme.

It really is the cutest little doll buggy! My house looked like a add for everything pink! Pink balloons, pink and brown plates etc and pink roses. It was really pretty and there was no mistaking there is a baby girl on the way. Everyone keeps asking me what I have made for her, surprising enough I have sewn very few things. I did make Camryn an adorable outfit for her first trip to Disneyland. I also make her and outfit and Grant a matching shirt in Hawaiian fabric for our Hawaii trip. Not clothes but I made several dozen bows and put them all into a bouquet. And of course I made a diaper cake. Maybe Steph can post the picture of the Hawaii outfits. It always amazes me at how they can know all those things that we "READ." They have another way to recognize things, because they don't know letters and numbers yet, let a lone words. I know they pick up sounds quickly and use them.

Your family is into cars, so I want to share this about our first DGS, Calvin. When he was 2 he could look at any car and tell you the make. He would look at the emblems and ask Daddy what kind that one was. He could be riding along in his little car seat and name all the cars as they went by.

One day his uncle came over to our house with his dad's big old Lincoln. We thought we would have him stumped on that one. He had to walk all the way around the car to figure it out--- then he found the oval blue Ford symbol from the dealership and he yelled "It's a Ford!" lol

It always amazes me to see what those little ones can learn.

Your little guy is as sharp as he is cute!

I'm also impressed Steph. Especially since he was in the stroller all of the other times going to the room. Guess he's gonna have a great sense of direction and a keen awareness of his surroundings. Unlike his Aunt Summer. :) Too Cool!

That is pretty cool!

My DD has a sense of direction that amazes me. Of couse I have NO ability in this department - so she didn't get it from me. She could tell me which way was North, East, etc. - no matter where we were when she was 2!

She is still that way. She never gets lost. I can't find my way out of Super Wal-Mart.

I kid her that she has a giant magnet in her head and is always pulled North....

I bet Disneyland was fun with Grant!

I'm impressed! He's one smart boy, so it doesn't surprise me though!

*I* get lost in some motels! Seriously, the stupid hallways ALL look the same to me! LOL Especially in the bigger ones. Little motels I can find my way around.

That is amazing. My DGD is 2, and she does that stuff too. Makes you dumbfounded! They are incrediblely smart little creatures. (Especially yours! LOL)

He's going to be one man who truly won't need to stop and ask for directions. .. He is a bright little guy and cute as a button too.
Sometimes when you have a medium to large family gathering over have everyone take off their shoes and put them in a pile in the middle of the room. I'll bet he will be able to take the shoes to their owner.

He's healthy and has a mommy and daddy who feed him correctly - thusly, his brain is developing as it should. Of course, I KNEW he was a smart boy - he chose you for his MOM!

Oh, that IS impressive, Steph. I can remember when I was about 3.5-4 years old, we stayed at a dude ranch in AZ for a week. I was constantly walking into the wrong little cabin, I walked in on a man and his red-haired son in all stages of undress so many times, they learned my name and knew that I was supposed to go 2 cabins further down. I was paying attention to the scroll work over each door instead of the number. lolol Every cabin had the same scroll work! I kept walking into #4 instead of #6.

Obviously, Grant is smarter than I was. lolol He's a smart little cookie, that boy!

How cute, Steph. Kids are so smart these days. I can remember DS yrs. ago standing on his little stool in front of our picture window & naming all the car models that drove by on the street. He loved cars & had a ton of those little Matchbox cars that he played with constantly. He usually got every car correct, too. I remember his grandparents bragging about that to everyone in the neighborhood. :-)
