We lost him

My Uncle Gene died this afternoon about 4:20.

It was cloudy and the sun came out to shine shortly after while we were still with him. I'd like to think he was riding those sunbeams to heaven.

Tina, I'm sincerely sorry for what you've been going through, it sounds like you have had ALOT on your plate. If the saying is true that "you don't get more than you can handle" well then someone up there thinks you're Superwoman! I would not worry so much about bad talk, it's bound to happen here no matter how nice you are or how many friends you make. All it takes is getting one wrong person mad and that's it. The anonymity of the internet and the inability to read attitude and tone in emails can contribute to this, unfortunately. But this is when your reputation should come in to save you. If you know you have made nothing but great trades, then those mean words should roll right off your back because the truth will come out in the end and everyone will realize those mean words were just hot air. If, however, you haven't, for whatever reason (and we are all human), then really, you need to make it right. Now, no one likes to replace plants (I know I grumbled when I had to replace two last year, and I am sure my dear trader that recently had to replace a lost package was not too happy with having to replace FIVE named hostas for me), but that is what happens when you enter into a trade agreement and you want to build/sustain a quality reputation. If a package is lost, or damaged, or the plants die in transit, I 100% stand behind my trades and would replace in a heartbeat if notified, and I'd like to think the rest of the people I trade with would too. I hope this is not coming across like a lecture, I'm not meaning for it to. I've been trading on various sites since 1999 and like you have had over 500 trades, many of them with repeat traders who know the quality packages I send. My philosophy has always been this - send a package that you yourself would LOVE to be on the receiving end of. If you wouldn't, well then the person you're sending it to probably wouldn't either.

MM.. I'm glad you came to 'check in' with us.. Sometimes writing down what you've been through helps 'unload' your bottled up feelings. I feel for you, and I'm so sorry to hear of all you've been going thru. I give you credit, for your inner strength. You seem to have handled it in a way, that's 'healthy', to get you thru it all... (pugs included). Hopefully now, you can focus on a happy part of your life that is coming up. May this also be a 'new beginning' with many happy memories ... to come. As far as naps, I try to do that everytime I need to recoup. It's so helpful for both mind and body, and you shouldn't feel guilty in taking one. I had a husky mix who was afraid of thunderstorms as well. I tried rescue remedy, it took the edge off a little but did not work. The only thing for her was to go down to the basement (when we had one) and play ball until the storms passed. It would also help her when she would lay up against the dishwasher to oven - I think this might have been a grounding effect. Now my current dog does not have an issue with thunderstorms, but goes ballistic with fireworks - he goes crazy barking, running around inside the house. I have tried anxiety wraps, rescue remedy, homeopathy, fireworks cds, DAP diffusers etc. etc. none have worked. I have also heard about melatonin working but have not tried it. Connie, I'm softly patting you on your shoulder. It's very hard I know. As a senior case manager (retired), a nurse, and recently widowed, I can tell you that most Hospices will make nursing home visits. They make sure the patient is comfortable, both with expediting appropriate medications, personalized personal care/baths, and nursing interventions. One lady I knew had no family left and the Hospice nurse stayed with her till the end. I just can't say enough good about our Hospice in Central Illinois. And yes, it is not irrevocable. Oh Connie, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know how much Uncle Gene meant to you and your family. Weren't you lucky to have him for so many years. He is smiling down from Heaven and will be waiting at the Pearly Gate when you get there.

Gene, was like a father to us growing up. He was there for us at all times. He was a man who loved the simple things in life, fishing, baseball,football, family getting together, laughing and visiting.He loved practical jokes and pranks. My god he'd laugh til his whole body shook with laughter! A relative posted on FB that she hoped heaven is ready for practical jokes because the master is on his way.
So many of the CNA's actually lined up to say welcome home when he came back from the hospital Monday. They were all crying and by gosh he had them laughing when they walked out the door. He was loved by SO many.
You cry and cry and think of something and cry some more. I have a unbelievably huge hole in my heart right now.
