Where can I find a metal pocket door?

I'm in search of a metal and glass pocket door to go between our kitchen and mudroom. I want to be able to see my dogs if I leave them in the mudroom and they will scratch a bit at the door if I leave them in there.

So, this has me looking for a metal pocket door with "full" glass window.

The best my contractor can come up with so far is to just use an exterior door. The problem is that these doors are very thick and might force us to make this wall out of 2x6's instead of 2x4's. Not the end of the world, but I'd like to find a "normal" size pocket door that is made of metal and glass.

Another option would be to just use a wood door and put a metal kick plate on the bottom. I'm not in love with that idea either.

If anybody has seen something like this or knows of a manufacturer please let me know!

I'm not sure you're going to be able to do this.
If you're building the wall yourself, the 2" is unnoticeable.
I am here to tell 'ya, since I have 15 pocket doors made in all 2x6 walls.

I have a metal and glass door between my mudroom and kitchen so my dogs can see in and I can see them at night.
I used one of those great screen doors where it's glass on the bottom, screen on top and the glass on top moves up and down. It's fantastic.

I think the thing is, one doesn't need a metal and glass on the interior, so a thin, interior door is fairly difficult to find. OTOH, you can find great exterior doors of a gudzillion styles in exterior doors. If it's the only 2x6 wall in your home, I promise you're not going to notice. Plus, the way my dogs jump? I don't think I'd want 1) a full view glass window, or 2) a skinny door.

Thanks for the encouragement. Maybe I shouldn't be so against the 2x6 wall. We're expanding and I just wanted every little inch I could find! =)

We currently have a exterior door about where this new pocket door is going to be, and its metal/full view glass. In addition to seeing the dogs, we also want light to come in through this area after we put up a 48" window behind the door. The dogs don't jump on it but they do sit there and gently scratch it to get our attention. The biggest dog is 60 lbs and can reach pretty high with her paws when she scratches so metal kick plate didn't seem sufficient.

For older door sets the two knobs and the shaft connecting them are separate pieces. You can buy any combination of knobs that fit on each end of the shaft. The length of the shaft is adjustable to work with different doors and locks because you screw on the knob assembly until its up to the trim, and then tighten the lock screw to hold it in place. I have modified new locksets to use the old knobs, and its not a perfect union. New sets usually have a square opening in the center so that you can insert the new square shaft, but its sometimes a loose fit. If its a loose enough fit that the knob turns several degrees before the lock mechanism starts to move, it doesn't really feel right, but it works fine. Bruce

That. You will get a nicer looking door seen from the kitchen at the expense of a more industrial look in the mudroom. So, how much time do you plan on spending in your mudroom vs. your kitchen?
