There is a pizza place here in town called Pi-Hole Pizza....I want to go there for a late lunch. Happy Pi Day, too.

Am I the smartest woman in the room? No. Am I the most beautiful woman in the room. No. Do I have the best personality in the room? No. But do I wake up every morning determined to be the very best person I can possibly be that day? Also no.

On Pi day, I usually make a quiche and a dessert-type pie. I’m not doing as well as IdaClaire, but I’m down 14 lbs and I don’t want to lose ground. Does a piece of filet mignon count? It was round....and delicious! I cooked the filets sous vide. DH’s was cooked to 140 degrees, mine to 130 degrees. I made a DIY Montreal Seasoning blend that was fantastic. I modified the seasoning blend recipe to fit what I had. Instead of coriander, I used Garam Masala and instead of onion powder, I used a shallot blend from The Spice House. After the steaks were cooked, I threw them in a cast iron skillet to brown. Using an old Julia Child technique, once they were browned, I poured off the fat and deglazed the pan with red wine. With the pan off the heat, I swirled in a small chunk of butter. That has got to be the easiest and greatest pan sauce ever!

The pond in a local Socal park doubles as a drainage site for rainwater. The goose is standing on the back of a partially submerged cement bench. We are getting more rain as I type.
