If you can match the other wood you have, I think it would be a nice option. but please, no wood-look tile, or wood look vinyl next to the real stuff! Looks like you have the standard red oak. what's nice, is if you get the stain on site option, any good flooring person can match the other color. Or, get whatever color stain you like and have the other portion sanded and stained to match. more expensive option though. I redid my floors when I redid the kitchen and carried in french oak flooring throughout. I've spilled all sort of things on it and it cleans up perfectly fine. But, I do have a runner below my busy work station areas. it's just easier to vacuum and spot clean. time for a new rug, this one is pretty beat!

First question: are you planning on painting your walls? In the second pic the walls appear to be MATCHED to the light wood flooring. This is causing a HUGE amount of YELLOW to go into the space = intensifies/changes red tones. I would want to have my walls primed white (get something over top of all that yellow/beige) to give you a natural jumping off point. Right now we are guessing by pics. Your first pic shows BURGUNDY blinds....and then your second pic shows deep cherry. And this is why picking colours in a space that has HEAVY colour tones is SUPER difficult. If it were me and I was resigned to the burgundy/cherry blinds I would bring in Brazilian Cherry (Jatoba) coloured flooring. It would be a case of "Go big or go home".

You will most likely want to change the kitchen. I would not select a floor to coordinate with a kitchen that will be replaced in the near future. I personally love white cabinetry with wood floors. Eliminates the worry about woods clashing. If your home is not open concept, and it will be many years before you redo the kitchen, I would consider doing the kitchen in a tile look and then the rest of the home in any one if those wood plank choices. I am a fan of light flooring. so they all appeal to me.

Are we seeing the exact same tile in the image with 5 pieces as in the "inspiration for tile pic?" Perhaps it is the lighting that makes these 5 pieces look so dark? Are they actually a white to light gray? Yes paint your vanity cabinet but please be sure to get yourself 5 colour chips that pull colours from granite photo number one. I would stick with this stone. Please be sure that they are exactly colours found in this stone. Five colour chips should be enough to help you choose a paint colour ranging from dark to lighter tones and post a picture. Do you have an image of one bathroom? Every detail matters including floor material and direction based on size and orientation (this is not always thought about) but everything matters and everything builds on everything else. Are you looking to achieve a more modern look. Wood is beautiful but is rustic and warm. Far too often, this classic material drowns when it has classical markings but is drowning in modern lines and aesthetics. This may seem picky but please post the cabinet face. We need to see what the detail looks like. Not sure what budget you are working with but also consider the edge of your countertop ie. square, pencil (in your inspiration image it looks like this I think), ogee etc... Step by step... Oh! What is the name of the type of stone in option #2 please?
