WOW!!!!! That's Fabulous! I love the sheltered room, what a relief it will be during hot spells. The stone worked in with the brick gives such character. Cute little bunnies too. I like your ideas and think this will be a lovely entrance and very enjoyable living space!

Nice space. This is the front porch, facing the street? White wicker is nice, I am wondering how black cast metal furniture would look; more formal, I'm sure.

When I first opened this, I was going to suggest painting the ceiling light blue, but I see it's not really that style. (We finally pulled off the vinyl siding so I could paint ours, and it got cold.) :^P

i think a white wicker set sounds lovely, you might want to get the new imitation wicker, it will not fall apart like the real stuff will and it feels real..it will last longer..

we had a porch very similar in shape to yours on our old house..l shape with the seating area off to the side..and we had a white wicker set (that house burned but we always were out there sitting in that area with guests..until they had to leave..it was wonderful)

we had a settee, coffee table, 2 regular chairs and a rocker..end tables were wooden

Bodica, the bunnies were always near my old porch and only today I thought to put them in their new home, after sitting on the patio table all winter. :)

littledog, I thought about black furniture, but that area of the porch is dark and I think white will lighten it up, along with the white ceiling. The porch faces a dirt road. Luckily we're on the south side of the road so we won't get blowing dust in the summer!

Ron, I looked at the faux wicker and it's just as expensive as real wicker. It would probably be best to get the faux wicker though, but geez it cost a fortune!

I love your porch and think twin topiaries will be great there!
I have a teeny tiny porch so I can't show you a porchful of design.
I think that you need to consider the whole front of the house, not just the porch when you decide you want curb appeal and you want it to be an integral portion of the front design.
oh, btw- no stegasaurus fins, right?? LOL

Here is a picture of my porch which is the thing I love the most about my house and my husband and I sit out there so much during the nice weather. Right now I just have a simple wicker 5 piece set but I hope this summer we can devote some time to the porch, landscaping and painting.

I love your porch! My beef with most front porches is that they are usually so shallow that they're not very useful to really use....mine included. I'm guessing you're in Oklahoma? Potted plants/shade loving flowers would be terrific with your wicker.

Pf, I'll be doing all shade plants which should be a challenging experience. I've already ordered elephant ears to go in front of the porch. The builder made one side of the porch longer near the oval window so I could set a plant in full sun there. lol

Cooper, come summer, the "curb apeal" will be breathtaking. At the corner of the old house, opposite the porch area, there are morning glories and moon flowers that will be lush and climbing a trellis, along with two HUGE crepe myrtle.

Can't wait for the twin topiaries! I'm seriously thinking about getting faux topiaries. :)

Oakley, you could always dig up a pair of Eastern Red Cedars until you can get the "real deal"; they're tough, take even a severe pruning in stride, and, in Oklahoma at least, they're free.

What wonderful potential! I love your brick choice, BTW. My inlaws had that same brick (they lived in Seminole, OK) and I always thought it was so pretty! I think with the two seating areas, you have the best of both worlds: shade and shelter from the wind when you need it and over on the other side, a place to catch a bit of sun and/or a nice breeze. Love your idea of the twin topiaries, too. I can't use wicker out here because it blows over in our winds. From what I know of Oklahoma, you get some pretty strong winds, too. That might be something to take into consideration when choosing your furniture . . . that and fading from the sun. I have to deal with that, too! I do like the idea of using white all-weather wicker on yours if it'll work for you, though. As for a long table under the other window, why not a smaller table flanked by two (or just one) rocking chairs, also painted white? Question: are you having your flower beds built up so that there won't be a drop off from the porch or leaving them about that level? Another idea is to keep an eye out for a small hutch or credenza that you can put out on the protected part of your porch. Something from a garage sale or consignment shop that you can paint.

My front porch (we call them front portals out here), spans the front west side of our boomerang shaped house. It's 65 feet long, I believe. It has four areas, so that we can always find shade to sit in, as I hate sitting in the sun now that I'm not a teenager ;^P

To the far east end of the portal, past the table & chairs, I have a porch swing and a couple of chairs. We have great views from there of the valley below us. Since I took this pic, I've put our old sofa table out there under the red shelf.

I honestly adore your home and just know you are going to have a fabulous porch! Since you mentionied that the 'white siding under the porch isn't installed yet' I take that to mean your porch ceiling? I thought that if you ever wanted to install a porch swing, or one of those hanging chairs you see in Mexico, that you might want to mark the spot(s) where the beam is that you would drill into. Honestly, any nice patio set is going to look lovely. And once you get the railing installed and your topiaries I'm sure you're going to go to town on some other plantings as well.
