Your kitchen is similar to the one we are ripping out (and the only reason being is the cabinets are not functional and they are literally falling apart). But I even have the same knobs as you in my existing kitchen. I love the look of them but I like the pulls you have in the first pic a lot more. You could do the pulls on the drawers and the knobs on the doors. I've seen hardware mixed like that before and I like the look. I will say this, at 5'4" tall, my belt loops ALWAYS get caught on the drawer knobs in my kitchen (honest! at least twice a day this happens!). When it comes time to pick out hardware for our new cabinets I'm getting pulls to avoid that. My opinion may be biased because of that little tidbit, but I still think the pulls give it just enough punch without taking away from the look of the cabinet.

I love how immediately helpful everyone is! The door leads to the laundry/utility room. Immediately on the other side is the furnace. Boo. A nicer door could be an eventuality, but we were over budget on the project already, existing was a brown faux wood finish PLASTIC door. This door was on sale at Menards so we got it as a quick fix because that plastic door was just killing everything. The dark walls kind of closed the space in considerably, something we were both happy with because the room gets tons of traffic so much of the space is unusable as far as adding furniture and room opens to ginormous family room with double french doors so tons of light coming in. A lot of the room just looked like odd open space and now its much more cozy. Thought a black door sucking light wouldn't be terrible. I liked the way the black chair backs contrasted with the wainscotting, that's where I got the idea that the door might look nice in that same finish but I think I've been outvoted! I do like the fresh white with the linked fresh artwork... Would be a very different effect! And thanks for the mock up - how cool is that? So easy for me to visualize, I need to learn how to do that so I can try out my crazy ideas :) Although it still looks appealing to me after seeing it. Thanks again for all the input!

I would come up with a master plan and decide if you wanted to ultimately replace the doorknobs in the entire house or on the second floor. If not, I would probably get a knob that was fairly compatible with the existing but with a split finish. (Aged brass or bronzish on the bedroom side, chrome on the bathroom side and all chrome within the new bathroom itself. That is one way how it was traditionally done. Another way was to have metal on most of the room doors and glass knobs on the bathroom doors. I have seen a number of solutions to this, but more important than having the whole house match is extablishing a pattern to whatever changes you make, so the differences at least make sense instead of looking completely random.

We have initially chosen level door handles and hinges all throughout our house. The finish we chose was Antique Nickel (https://www.kwikset.com/products/levers/mechanical-levers?finish=antique-nickel), but nothing has been ordered yet. My husband does not want rubbed bronze or anything dark like we had in our last house. I conceded, but instead of putting brushed nickel everywhere, I thought I would go off the beaten path and choose Antique Nickel. The problem is that I haven't been able to see it in person anywhere, yet. My question is this: Will it look bad to have antique nickel on all door handles and hinges, but maybe have a chrome or brushed nickel faucet in the kitchen. Also, I am not a big fan of brushed nickel, so can my kitchen cabinet handles and pulls be dark if I want. Do the handles have to match the faucet color? For reference, our outer cabs (both upper and lower) are chalk white. The island is called Ballard Blue (By Designers Choice cabinets). Cabinets are farm house style. I guess I need to know the do's and don'ts of fixture colors throughout the house. Can I do something entire different (darker) for bathroom fixtures, even if the knobs and hinges are lighter?
