I found fresh yeast at the grocery store the other day, I haven't found any in years, so naturally I grabbed several of the cakes. I wish I could get it all year but I'm thinking they just got it in for the holiday's. Are you able to get it all the time?
I'll be making breads, donuts and coffeecakes for awhile using the fresh stuff. It brings back many fond memories for me, it's what my DM always used. It is a different strain of yeast from the instant dried yeast and I love using it.
Here's the first coffeecake I made using it.
