Counter stools different color then cabinets??

Shoulda bought them when I saw them!!!! 6 months before our house was finished I saw unfinished bar stools on line that matched my Dining room chairs perfectly. But I listened to DH and waited and now they are discontinued.

They were the John Greenleaf (chateau) around $100.00 ea.

All I had to do was stain them to match my cherry cabinets.

The bar stools that my furniture store sell are almost $300.00 ea and I need 4. Too much $$. So, there is another that is close but has a rush kane seats and DH hates it!!

Yankee has the same style in colors (I checked and they don't have cherry or unstained) But they have black.

My cabinets and island is 1 shade darker then natural cherry. I have nat'l red oak flooring and my counters are the UBA TUBA. Would the black look good with it? I am one of those matchy matchy type people.

are these what your looking for? they have chateau. There is no price though. Actually, I am on the search for counter stools and those are really nice so I may check them out too.

They are the Venetian - 24 inch stools. They are really comfortable and clean up nicely. I spent a long time agonizing over counter stools and I'm happy with them! They have a bar in the front and on the sides - it's a good position for a foot rest. They look great with the soapstone. Even though the soapstone is on the perimeter and the marble is at the island, I like it a lot. I didn't want to try to match the island. Good luck!

terrilynn, I am confused about what to do for the island and also the desk/coffee bar/bar area. I'm going back and forth on wood or soapstone for the island. I'm pretty sure I want wood on the desk and soapstone on the bar/coffee area. (just for maintenance purposes). I'm not sure if I do the base colors on the other areas the same as the island or different. We aren't doing any stainless except for the range, but that desk is pretty cool! Lavender, thanks, and I love the idea of red accents. I hadn't really thought that far, but that will be perfect and will blend with the rest of our house. I guess I need to figure out if I can really do the painted island and how much maintenance that will be. Here are my options, in case anyone else is as confused as I am: 1. Wood colored island with soapstone top 2. Sage/light green island with soapstone top 3. Sage/light green island with wood top Desk: something with a wood top....I'm thinking base should match the island, unless of course the island base is wood tone, and then it would either match the yellow cabinets or the coffee bar area. Coffee bar/bar: definitely soapstone top- either yellow cabinets like the rest of the kitchen, green, or wood colored. I'm even confusing myself, so if anyone is following this, I'm impressed, and thank you for any thoughts!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. We moved this past year and yes, it’s a terrible kitchen layout. Unfortunately I know that my husband will not ever do a total kitchen remodel. We just don’t know how long we will live here to make it worth it. We made the mistake of doing WAY to much to our last house and ended up moving after only 1.5 years. We will be rotating the cooktop so that it is still in the island but instead face the fridge. There’s no way to put it elsewhere without getting all new cabinets, I tried. I see what you are saying with the grey, and maybe I should have said lighter counter as I’m not tied to grey, just something a little brighter. Is there any lighter granite that works well with Ooba Tooba? My main question is still do I only do the island counter or do I do the entire kitchen’s counters to be uniform?

They are the chairs. The counter stools and bar stools were discontinued over 4 months ago. I have emailed every company and called John Greenleaf and there are NONE to be had. That is exactly the one I wanted. My dining room chairs are from Thomasville Cabot House called the color cafe and they are an exact match. So I have one vote for black, anyone else have any ideas? Thanks, I just took some pictures of my kitchen and family room and hall, now I just have to learn to post. I feel like I OWE so much to this Garden Web. They were my inspiration for so many things.

We did not match our counter stools to the cherry cabinets.

The stools we liked were stained oak.

sanborn, sorry about your dilemma. the same thing happened to me with a light fixture that was discontinued. And I'm looking for stools too.

jtsgranite....I am looking for counter stools too and am considering square. I like yours...do you mind me asking where you found them?

jessie21 - The stools are Ashley Prairie View Collection which I purchased from barstoolsupercenter.com. They have the counter height or bar height versions available. Mine are the bar height which is advertised as 31" but were closer to 30". They were real easy to put together and are real comfortable. I did have to balance the legs on 2 of the stools which was not a big problem.

Sanborn5, i am also one of those matchy people as you can tell from my granite and cabs, but after living with my kitchen for a while added some black accents and have since replaced my island stools with black ones from pottery barn and i love them. Good luck.....

I know they're not exact match style-wise but unfinishedfurnitureexpo.com has some very nice stools (5 pages of them) which you could then stain/paint as you wish! I used them for stools and a table for our banquette and had my cabinet people finish them - worked out great!!

if you bought the chairs with the rush cane seats you can get someone to add an upholstered seat. GL.
