does she know the history of it. There is so much new porcelain on the market now days. There should be manufacturer's markings on it.

We know nothing about it. It sure doesn't look "new"..not that that means anything! lol

You could check the Antique Road Show Web site. I have seen similiar vases on the show.

I don't think that's cloisonne. Cloisonne is little wires, like copper, with colored enamel between. That just painted, no wires. I would suggest asking on the Antiques forum here on GW. Lindac there knows a lot.

I have an Asian ginger jar in that shape but it is smaller I think but that jar really looks like the vase/urn that I have my Mom's ashes in.

I'm not really a help, but it looks like a beautiful urn!

It doesn't look very old to me, by the picture painted on it. But I thought it was cloisonne, so I'm probably wrong.

That marking on the bottom is interesting, yes check with the antique forum they will know
