macerating toilet and septic system

I'd like to install a toilet and sink in our basement. It will be necessary to use upflow technology, either a pump type system or macerating system will be required.

I had done all my research and had chosen a macerating toilet, then yesterday my plumber advised against using a macerating type system because we have a septic system. He said that some municipalities are disallowing their usage with a septic system because of the potential for early leaching field failure. His reasoning was that it is similar to a garbage disposal, which can be detrimental to the septic system. I understand the basis for not using a garbage disposal because of the lack of bacteria (which is why some garbage disposals are made with a component to add beneficial bacteria when used with a septic).

Anyone have an opinion or advice?
