I feel like I must be the resident "Scrooge" here, but really I'm tired of the Oscar hype, and it hasn't even happened yet!! Maybe the coverage is heavier in CA than other places.

I love the Oscars, watch them every year, have been doing so since I was in university over 20 years ago. I heard The Hurt Locker wasn't that great, but of course opinions on movies are very subjective. Inglorious Basterds won the SAG Award.

I've seen Blindside, Precious, Up, Up in the Air. The other movies haven't been showing around here (except for Avatar and I plan on seeing that when on vacation) I also hope to see The Hurt Locker while we're away if its showing anywhere.

I love Oscar Peterson Rose! To everyone who is comparing OP with Snow Pavement, sorry they are two completely distinct and different roses. Oscar Peterson has semi-double almost white flowers on a smallish upright plant. It grows like a little soldier and doesn't bush out into a bowl shape. The flowers are delicate and lovely. As well, the rose flowers frequently and for a long season. I find it charming. By contrast, Snow Pavement which I also grow is a very large shrub. Big leaves, takes over garden space, suckers. Snow Pavement acts like a normal rugosa rose with the exception that it has gorgeous lavender white flowers. So when placing these two roses in the garden, Snow Pavement would be mid to back and center of a bed, with Oscar Peterson to one side and more forward. Oscar Peterson would fit next to a fence or other tight spot well. Then in front could be planted any groundcover type of rose. The very back of this bed would be suitable for bushy climbing roses or taller arching roses such as Therese Bugnet.

I don't watch the Oscars but did scroll through some of the highlights to see what folks were talking about. Some beautiful outfits and some big fails. One thing that I always notice (and it's almost a decor thing) is why the designers/stylists/starts don't take the color of the red carpet into account when they choose an outfit's color. Some of those dresses just clashed so horribly with the color red of the carpet in the photos.

I’m considering buying a Lazy Boy Collins sofa and love seat. I can’t find any reviews on line. Does anyone have one bought in the recent past and are you happy with the quality? A year ago I purchased a King Hickory which I feel is well made but I went too neutral on the color and want a deeper seat cushion. I don’t want to move down in quality. Thank you!

I didn't see her Oscar appearance although based on the photos I much prefer her 'natural' (LOL) soft blonde color a la Grace and Frankie. I always think her hair looks great on the show, very soft and the tone is perfect for her coloring. I've noticed on this season she is moving stiffly although I think that's a plot point rather than her natural gait. I just love the show and I"m so sad it will end after its next season. It's truly remarkable how great not only Jane Fonda looks but also Lili Tomlin who is only a few years younger. For a couple of 80-year olds they still bring all the charm, talent and beauty one could ever expect from actresses! HBO had an excellent documentary on Jane Fonda last year, and if you find her interesting it is well worth watching.

I've only seen Coraline, which is nominated for best animated feature. I loved it and hope it wins the category.

I look forward to seeing how the celebrities look in their gowns and tuxedos.

We just saw A Serious Man tonight (netflix). Terrific movie, but very focused and not of general interest IMHO.

Another vote for Julia/Meryl.... awesome performance. I can't wait to see the Jeff Bridges performance in Crazy Heart.

Only saw 2 of them- District Nine and Avatar. Guess I'm not much of a moviegoer these days. I wull be watching the awards tonight. I love the red carpet and seeing all the gowns. And the people who attend.

I'm also not much of a movie goer. Cablevision has pulled channel 7 off the air here in the NY metro area in a $ dispute. I hope the Oscars will be shown on another channel.

I don't watch and really don't even give them a thought when considering what to see, in fact in years gone by I avoided seeing the winners because I usually hated them.

I don't watch the Oscars any more. The last time I watched them was the year Denzel Washington won Best Actor for "Training Day". I think he's an outstanding actor (particularly "Malcolm X" and "Philadelphia") but that performance was not Oscar-worthy, at least IMHO. I think Sean Penn should have won it for "I Am Sam", but then again (at least to me), the Oscars have always been about politics and popularity, not about the art of film.

I have seen Up, Up in the Air, Precious, An Education, Inglorious Basterds. I have not been impressed by any of them. I do want to see The Blindside.

My vote is for Sandra Bullock. I loved Meryl Streep in Julia and I love her in everything she does, but Sandra Bullock may never have another shot and she was really good in Blindside. If you have ever seen the real life gal in interviews, you know Sandra just nailed her!
