Rival Crockpot Recall

Here is a link to find out if yours is on the recall list. They were manufactured between January 1999 and Sept 2004.

It gives you all the #s that are recalled and what you need to do to get it replaced.

Here is a link that might be useful: Rival Recall

I think that one on the left may be mine! I am not sure I want the replacement though. Do you think it cooks hotter?

Mine is on the recall list. Do you know why they are being recalled?

Own-root 'Distant Drums' grew upright like a typical HT, but, lacking vigor in my garden, it was de-accessioned, in Paula's discreet phrase. I checked my Grusses, and the larger is around 3-1/2 by 4' after three seasons from a 1-gallon. I haven't pruned them at all, though, because the natural habit is perfect. My summers are mild but probably warmer than yours and Hoov's, so her experience is more pertinent.

Does it say anything on or near the buttons? Do they have numbers?? I'm not picturing this very well. In any case I'd guess the buttons would go from left to right, low to high. You could always put some water in it, turn on one button and after half an hour check temp. Then empty, fill again and do the same thing. High will have higher temp after half an hour. You can also google instruction manuals for your pot.

I've got to buy a new crockpot - HELP!

Well, you have to read the issues and find out if you would care about that person's gripe. If something on it breaks right off the bat you can get a replacement. For example, the timer was broken on my Calaphon waffle maker and they sent me a new one. My crockpot is so basic and it was so cheap, I can't imagine having an issue with it. I would just get a new one if it went bust. But I am not a fancy cook with the crockpot, I just use it for roasts, stews, soups and beans. I'd like to branch out but never seem to find the time. I have instructions for doing hot cereal in it to put in the night before for a warm breakfast. Maybe this winter . . . Someday though, I would definitely like to buy one of those multi cookers. I eat so much rice, and pressure cooking is the way to go to save time and money.

I think because the handles can break off.

Mine is not on the list. Model number is 33551 and both handles have broken off. DH bought some of that glue that you have to mix 2 tubes together just before using and repaired them.

Jessica, I think mine cooks hotter. I wouldn't want another of this brand if mine quit working.

I'm not sure I have one of them..I have that kind and it cooks way hotter than any crockpot I've ever owned...I don't use it often! I have a small one that I use way more!

If your crockpot runs hot and isn't digital (i.e. has a dial), have someone handly put a dimmer switch on it. Then you have an infinite range of temperatures.

Thanks, Betty. I think I'll stick with the one I've got.
