My cat is ticking me off!

He has started hiding under the bed and then attacks my feet when I get into bed. He did it at 5:30am when I got up to use the bathroom. Claws are out; thankfully I had socks on.

He used to do this when I would walk up the stairs to go to bed. He'd run halfway up the stairs to swipe at my legs/feet and run away. I started leaving a squirt bottle on the steps and he stopped.

I think it is all food related. I long ago stopped giving him treats because he became aggressive if you didn't give him them when he wanted them. Now he eats twice a day (canned with dry sprinkled on top). Sometimes, he is happy with that, sometimes not.

I am worried about leaving him at my 80 year old mother's house because I don't want her feet to be injured.

I am thinking of filling water bottles and leaving them facing under the bed as a reminder that he better not do it!

PS: I chased him down at 5:30am and squirted him. He is very fluffy so squirting him doesn't always phase him.

Any other ideas?
