If it's something we use all the time,I'll stock up. If it's something we only use occasionally, I'll just buy one or two.

I stock up especially if it's a good sale I also check the use by dates since sometimes it sits on the shelf fo a year or two.

But of course I stock up on frequently used items when they are on sale. I thought, everyone did.

I love stocking up when the price is right...I always buy things to stock like paper towels, terlet paper and believe it or not cheese...I like having a good supply of cheese on hand...Happy Hour and cheese go so well together that I want to always have it on hand....Yes I do buy like that..

I might buy 2 packages of something on sale, but not more. I don't really have the pantry or freezer space.

Sales come around quite frequently. If one store doesn't have it on sale, another one usually does. And where I live, there are about 10 supermarkets (and I don't know how many 'little' food stores) within a 3 mile radius of my front door.

So no, I don't generally stock up just because something's on sale. Might buy an extra 1 or 2, but no more than that.

On the other hand, a few times a year, we make a run to a nearby state that has not sales tax. I generally keep a list going of things to buy when we go there. Then I do stock up on stuff that we'd have to pay tax on if we bought it at home.

If it is something I really like, I might buy an extra or even two, but usually I don't buy multiples. I buy things like Swanson broth when it's on sale because I use so much of it in various things I cook.

I stock up on things we use often and maybe buy a couple of things on sale if we use them, but not regularly.

Depending on how good a sale it is, I will stock up on basics. I have shelves in the garage for canned goods, and I have a large red trash can that was a welcome gift from a local Ace hardware when I moved here. I use it to store packs of TP and paper towels.

Especially in the Fall I like to buy ahead and make up soups and/or stews for the freezer, so when the weather outside is frightful, I don't have to go out.

And saving $$ is a good thing! It may be harder and harder to do that now, the way things are going.

I stock up. I have a large p[antry closet,why not save money when you can? I don't stock up on perishables. Figure if you'll use something within about six months. I find I'm always changing brands of shampoos, things like that.

Yeah, I buy non-perishables ahead ... the basement is cool. Quite a lot of stuff is good for a substantial period beyond the "Best before ...." date - and one gets an idea of what may not have been, in the past, so can avoid over-stocking on such items - I've been around for a while.

The dollars that I save on it enable me to buy other stuff, later, during the period that it's in storage.

But I don't want to use too much gas to run among several stores to make only a couple of dollars of saving - sort of like robbing Peter ... to pay Paul.

By the way - we don't have tax on most food, in our area ... but a couple of muffins in a pack is a (taxable) snack, but a dozen (or more) in a bag is (non-taxable) food!?

This is a bad time to ask that question. We threw out about six bottles of salad dressings tonight. All but two had never been opened. Our taste seemed to have changed and all we eat anymore is ranch dressing. Unfortunately I had made three big spinach salads tonight and we had to eat them with no dressing. We don't throw out very often, one had expired in 1999. My husband does all the grocery shopping now and he buys even more than I did and hates coupons. He does use cat food coupons and some trips he spends more on cat food than human food. We have two indoor cats and usually four outdoor cats and if we aren't careful we also feed racoons and opossums.

Not normally, I just don't have the room for it in my little kitchen. I did stock up on milk last week, though, the kids go through it like water.

Since moving to Florida I no longer have the pantry or freezer space to buy extras, but.....I buy those WW giant fudge bars all the time, they are great! And they seem to sell fast here also, especially when on sale, as I sometimes do not find any.

Yep, I am QUEEN of that! I try to also use a coupon witha good sale! But I think DH would kill me if I came home with 6 boxes of cereal! lol We don't have that much room! I usually buy 2-3 depending on the product and how fast we'll use it. He talks about getting a new fridge and putting the old one in the garage, but I know I'd fill that sucker up way too fast!!

The local community center just asked for "Spring" baskets for the kids-no candy, just tolietries, and some games or little toys. I throw all my duplicate bathroom stuff into one box in my closet. I was able to fill up a pretty nice basket using just "extras" I picked up on sale!

I also pick up little toys, markers, crafts for DD, if I see a good sale. I call it the rainy day box. When we are bored or run out of stuff to do-I try and find something "new" to play with from the box. The other day it was white playdoh-which now I realize gets dirty looking REALLY fast!!

I'll stock up if it's a really good sale, not the sales that tend to come around on a regular basis. For something that goes on sale regularly I might buy a little extra but I won't empty the shelf. Since I do most of my shopping at one store I have a sense of what goes on sale a lot and what doesn't. Sometimes I'll find a discontinued item marked down 50% or more and I'll grab all of them if it's something I want.

The only store in town that offers double-coupons is closing next week. I like to take advantage of a good sale and a coupon combined. My best savings come when the commissary has a sale plus I have a coupon. Then I'll get a couple ahead, but that's about it. The only thing I'm willing to buy large multiples of, is dog treats.

If it is something like cereal, which goes for insane prices, I stock up when it is half price. I just bought 5 boxes that are good till July 2009. I have a pantry in the garage just for items I stock up on.

If it's something I use regularly and I have space yes... itf it's a 'good deal' but I don't use it often, I'll only buy what I know I'll use....

Lydia and I are so much alike, it's freaky. After dealing with MIL's house full of "I stocked up, it was on sale" I vowed to never have more than a month's supply of anything on hand. It was such a nightmare.

I will make an exception for hard-to-come-by items. If I know I can't find it here, I'll buy a lot when we travel and bring it home.

I have always been one to stock up on sale items. But, having been laid off from work in December, I have been watching every penny and only been buying when and what I have to. I have a big pantry and was finding myself tossing out a lot of things that were out of date. So, since I've been money crunching and buying only what I need, my pantry is much neater.

Oh, I've been guilty of having to throw food out too. So now I stock up only with what I KNOW we will use! Nope, I don';t drive from store to store at all. I don't stock up on frozen foods either.. well, meats.. I do stock up on frozen veggies... but not too much
