We put in a bay window and absolutely love it. I had it custom made, as usually the middle section of a bay window is larger than the sides. But living in S Calif we eat and entertain a lot outside---so I wanted to be sure we could pass plates, good sized pans, bowls etc thru the sides of the bay window that open. I found to do this that all 3 sections of the bay window would have to be the same size. I also designed the screen so they are half screens with a stop a few inches above the closed position so it is easy to pass items thru the window. I also had a granite platform installed outside the bay window so you have a place to place the pots and pans. This actually gives the effect that the bay window is resting on a chunk of granite. Wife loved the Bay window soooooo much , we put one in the family room too!! Gary

“Any thoughts on 18" front to back vs. 19"?!” @kel_kat5 - the sink’s front-to-back measurement can be important depending on how much room you’ll have behind your sink for the faucet. There have been a number of occurrences of people installing a sink, and then finding there isn’t enough room for the faucet, or for the faucet handle to move fully. This can be more the case in front of a window. Many people with this issue get a faucet in which the handle can be moved to the front, rather than be on one side. An advantage to this is that dripping hands on the handle don’t leave water all over the counter. For my next kitchen, I am doing this with my faucet, even if I have plenty of space. I am always cleaning mineral deposits and soap scum on the counter directly under the faucet handle where wet hands drip. Ok i'll take question number one and two and even go for the bonus round.... Your soffit needs a simple wood skin that matches the cabinet on the face and bottom (when the light hangs from) use a corner molding to finish off the face edge and a quarter round on the back (behind the light). This is a stupid KD design issue...it should have been done, but I think your KD wasn't really into completing the look (as you've discussed before). this will make a huge difference on that run of cabinets and the wall in general. I like the light, without seeing the whole wall, I'm guessing it's the right size for the space. I would not trim that window in wood...the space would be too crowded (and that's a very abnormal view for me to take since I like "finished" windows). Were it my space...I'd hang a rectangular piece of fabric from ohhh probably three or four (how big is the space) decorative curtain knobs, which I'd put near the top of the wall. thed swags would barely cover the top edge of the window frame (so they block no light). I'd do this in a fabric that pulls out the gorgeous blue/gray and cream in your kitchens....e gads...I might do a toile...(I never say that)... let's see...I'll go fabric shopping: I'd do a lined lampas or a linen, preferably a hand printed piece...preferably with chickens :oP ::shaking head:: where was i??? GAD i LOVE to look at fabric... anyhoo, couple of ideas...and i'd do a nice trim piece to finish the panel out... please send the bonus prize directly...and it had best be a nice cabernet... :oP

I would place them as close to each other as possible. I would do only one stick of trim between the windows, so it's 4" and not 8" of trim (4" trim on one window + 4" trim on other window). If that makes sense? So, give the illusion they are mulled. Then 4" trim around the entire unit of windows.
