Stacy, what video are you using?

I knew someone who bought the Curves one from Avon. She didn't say they worked wonders but she did like that her legs didn't ache at the end of the day.

Stacey....I don't know about the skechers...but I too am doing the walking videos AGAIN... and I just bought a pair of NuBalance walking sneakers , they are without doubt the best pair I have ever worn..comfort, perfect fit. Try on a pair if you can..., they are a bit pricey but well worth it.Keep walking.

I wear New Balance as well, and have for years - great walking shoe!

I am way overdue for a new pair of sneakers/walking shoes and will check out the ones recommended here.

@Stacy -- I'd also know what walking video you use, and more about the "huge improvement" as a result. Weight-loss? More energy? Improved mood? All of the above?

I don't think there are any 'tricks' in any particular shoes, but do agree that one should have a good pair of either walking shoes or cross trainers.

It is also important to replace them every so often as they will get broken down, even if they might not look 'worn out'.

I too like New Balance, especially because of the usually wider toes, and thus more comfort.

After my back surgery I was told to work up to 2 miles per day within 2 weeks. I was not told of any special shoes that I needed to strengthen back muscles.

I would suggest buying them locally and trying on numerous pairs to find what is the most comfortable to you.

Hi all we are heading to texas today so going to stop at some stores and see if we can find them....I am doing the Leslie Sansone Walk at Home video and I am now back in to my size 6's that last year laughed at me at my thighs!! I have only been doing it about 4 weeks 5 days a week and only the mile....my partner and I are going to go up to 2 miles when I get back.......aslo their is lots of outdoor work going on here too....raking weeding push mowing so that all helps...but I love the tapes.....Stacy

Okay, here's a possibly dumb question. Do you need a treadmill or is it just walking in place by the tv?

coral - you don't need a treadmill. It's just walking in place or walking around.

Yep you walk infront of the tv..
I have the 1 mile, 2 mile and 3 mile..I used to do them religiously..and have been meaning to get back to them..

I didn't loose alot of weight, but felt amazing..and body parts were definately firmer.

I also have her lower body workout and ab workout. Those are tough ones!! LOL I worked up to the 3 mile..but it's hard to find 45 minutes most days. I've ignored them for over a year..

Hey, that's good to know. I'm not great at making myself leave the house to exercise......too cold, too hot, too windy.....I have tons of excuses. Think I'll order a video (and probably come up with new excuses). Thanks!

My gf has the 1 2 3 mile one and I bought the one that has the fast mile or 2 on it and then the band you use on your legs toning.....I have lost 10 lbs but I am trying to.....since I am back in my 5/6 I am fine with weighing more....I actually like the numbers better at 120 but if I can wear the clothes comfortably at 130 I will do that...I really like her takes.....I do feel better and I can tell I look better....even in my trouble area (tummy)......Stacy

Stacy, are you eating less, too? I'm hoping I can manage to lose a few without giving up my favorite hobby!

Coral, if you do it, you can eat like you do as long as you pretty much are stable now.
HOWEVER,
I found that my appetite actually increases when I start to work out.
I've always been able to build muscle quickly and with that the metabolism increases..I just get lazy..or sick and stop and then it's hard to get back on that wagon!!!

I also will gain a few pounds a few weeks into begining to work out too..because of the muscle gain.
I always have to remember it's not fat..it's muscle when the scale goes up a few pounds. LOL

But the tape measure can go tighter.

So like Stacy has found, her weight goal, may not be as important as her size and fit.

So don't be discouraged if the scale doesn't tick down. Take some measurements and check them every week or two.
