I like caramel and cheetos, but can't imagine them together.

Is there a recipe for those?

I used two 7 oz pkgs, today, from Dollar Tree, Cheetos! I should have halved it cause it makes a lot.
First time I made them was using Cheese puffs. Both are great!
Just be ready to act quickly and wear latex gloves for handling.
Coyote or Reindeer "Droppings"

2-cups brown sugar

1-cup butter or margarine

1/2 cup white corn syrup

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

14-1/2 ounce package Cheetos OR**buy ONE 11 oz size of CHEESE PUFFS, NOT cheetos

Bring the sugar, butter or margarine and syrup to a boil for 5 minutes. Stir often Remove from fire. Add baking soda. Stir. Pour over cheetos, and toss QUICKLY . ***i USED TWO 9 X 10, ALUMINUM PANS Bake at 250 degrees F. for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Pour out on waxed paper rubbed with additional butter or cooking spray. Quickly separate the Caramelized Cheetos ****I used the bottoms of TWO broiler pans that I sprayed, put gloves on, and quickly separated, so you won't end up with big globs. Let cool, IF YOU CAN BEFORE SAMPLING! Store in plastic bags!

MaryAnn, Glenda made some for Anna and gave them to her when we stopped to eat lunch with her on our way to Orlando last May. We nibbled on them all the way from Birmingham to Orlando. They were sooooo good.

I made them before Christmas, using Glenda's recipe, and they were a real hit.

No offense, but caramel and cheese don't sound good together. Then again, I like chocolate covered popcorn and that sounded weird to me.

I just wonder who comes up with all of this stuff.

I'm going to a benefit dance next weekend and may make some of these to take. Thanks for the reminder!

It still doesn't sound very appetizing, LOL. Maybe that's what I should make for my "funky" snack I'm supposed to bring to our next WOW (women of wine) get-together.

Glenda, are puffy or crunchy Cheetos better in this recipe??

I can't imagine combining those 2 either, but maybe the caramel covers up the cheese taste??

Lydia, I like both. First time I made them was with the puffs.
Other times with the crunchy.

Crunchy is easier to handle, mixing and stirring, and separating.

Flavor is the same, delicious!

They are wonderful! I like the puffed better since they are softer. Thanks to Glenda I've been hooked over a year. I think its almost time to make more, its been awhile for me.

Sounds strange to me too, but I know most people here have raved about them. Do they taste like caramel corn or something?

They taste like caramel cheetos/or cheese puffs! That's the only way I can describe them.

When I made them for DS and his DW, DS said when they took them home, she could not pass by that bag without tasting :o)

Oh, I made those a year ago this past Christmas and youngest son in law was crazy about them. I think I used your recipe! Really, really good!

Every time I see this topic come up, someone mentions the thought about cheese and carmel together and I alway think What does CHEESE have to do with Cheetos??? :D
