Another Mom update!

Well, I got back from Colorado visiting my mom and being there for her graduation from rehab. :) It was very, very good. She is looking so beautiful and healthy! I even got to attend some of her group/individual counseling sessions on Friday from 8 am to 6 pm!!! Needless to say I was BEAT when I got back to their house. On Saturday, mom came home and we went shopping; mom, stepdad, stepbrother and I. It was relaxing and we talked on and off of the things she's learned. Both she and my stepdad have 3 counselors between them, plus AA meetings and continuing care at her "rehab lodge."

I got home on Sunday and poor DH was exhausted from 4 days with kids, LOL!!! I'm relieved and happy...I don't even know what else to say b/c I'm just...relieved. LOL! Just thought I'd update ya'll b/c you've been there for me. (((KT)))

Good for your Mom...I sure hope that she overcomes this evil.

Sounds like good news on all fronts with your parents ! I hope that your brother gets stable quickly and can get back home soon. Taking care of your parents is a lot of emotional and physical work. But it is worth it. I had full care of my 92 yr old Dad in their home for 6 months and then Momma came and lived with us for 3 years. Her health had been neglected while Daddy was in need. We then discovered that she had lymphoma when she came to live in our home. Take care of yourself and I hope that you can all spell each other and stay strong. c

That's great, Doodle. So glad she took it well and is going to go. Continue to offer her some words of encouragement here and there along the way... I'm not a religious person myself, but I think there's an awful lot to be said for a sense of FAITH in general in reaching goals. Or HOPE, as the place is named... it empowers a person to try and reach for better things. It's great when people find the strength they need, and believe that they actually CAN, and go on to make positive changes. If that's helped because they believe in God or Mr. Peanut, so be it, and more power to 'em!

Lois, my mom left a huge stack of granny squares! I assembled them into about a dozen lap robes and gave them to the local nursing home. That’s what mom did with the ones she completed. The nursing home staff was thrilled! Donna

I received this text from my nephew yesterday: "Kids opened the quilt last night. Aaron (the GGS) loved it! He has such great memories of grandma. Cassie (new wife) was sorry she didn't get to meet her after hearing us swap stories of her. Great gift. Thank you so much for doing it." I was really pleased to hear this! I was sad we couldn't attend the wedding, but it was too far to go and still have hubby make his church commitment on Sunday. Donna

What a wonderful report Haley. I remember when you posted about her incredibly high alcohol levels (was it .500?). I was amazed she didn't die. Please give her a hug from me and one for you as well for being there for her.

Three cheers (without alcohol of course) to you and your mom (and DH for dealing with the kiddies in your absence :-)

And yes, Flamey, you should have seen the state of the house when I got back, ROTFL!!! Toys everywhere! ::Giggle::

I bet your hubby quite happily went back to his regular job this week - and probably has an even bigger respect for the work you do every day.

I'm hoping your Mom continues in her happy and healthy recovery. I'm sure that time spent with you and the grandkids will help her.

What wonderful news! But I will keep right on praying for her to hold onto the joy of being sober & that she won't give in to the temptation.

Our son still attends AA- after nearly 20 years of being sober; he's found some loyal friends there & is very gratified when able to help others fight that nagging urge for one more day. He's still amazed at what he learned about himself thru' AA. We're not only thankful he's holding to promises he made to himself, but SO proud he has.
