Certainteed MainStreet Siding or Spend Another $15k for Hardi?
Comments (9)that is an interesting idea lzerarc. we did vinyl mastic brand, the middle of the road quality. what costs money, and what we did, were added some finishing touches. we have 2 1/2 inch white vinyl trim around all of our windows. it costs more than J, but looks really nice, and finishes off the windows. Not nearly as wide as the idea mentioned, above, but 6" would be out of place on my side house. we also did the large white corners that are about twice the size of a standard corner board. these are insulation backed to keep form, and really add some punch to the exterior. we also did cedar shake vinyl on the front. we also have an arch over the front door and garage door, that are being trimmed out in a sheet of Azak board. All the extras did add to the cost, but really set our house apart from some similar dormers in the area. however, vinyl is pretty standard in my area even though the house prices are high. Hardie really hasn't penetrated in the middle of the road areas....See MoreAllura/Certainteed shingle siding
Comments (19)@ILoveRed - Did you go through the regular 50 year warranty? If so - how long did it take for them to get you compensated? I am asking because I want to ding them on the fading paint 15 year warranty for the factory baked paint on my lap siding. I was surprised how easy the settlement was for me & while I was anxious to get final word, it was pretty straightforward to get all the paper work in. I took a weekend to document my Certainteed failures - fortunately they were all first floor damages - & another weekend to sort through the hundreds of pictures I took & send it all in via their upload system; 70 pics & measurements of my house. Sent them in 1 month before the Settlement expiration set in. Geomtery - which I was horrible at in HS - came in handy. :D...See MoreCertainteed Mainstreet Siding deluxe colors vs. regular colors

Comments (0)We are building a new construction and really liked the sample of this siding that we saw, but have yet to see it on a house. Has anyone used the Arctic Blend color of this siding before, and if so do you have a picture? Also looking for any other pictures of the Certainteed Monogram brand in darker colors. Thanks!...See MoreVertise
