Help - pros and cons of 2 inch vs 4 inch exterior stone veneer
Comments (2)The term "veneer" in a masonry exterior wall traditionally refers to a 4" thick masonry "veneer", a drainage cavity behind it and a back-up wall of some kind. Another newer system is gnerally called a "thin veneer" where a 1/2" to 3/4" thin layer of masonry is directly adhered to a masonry back up wall with mortar. The former is normally for brick on wood framed or concrete block back-up walls and where subject to freeze thaw cycles because it allows for water drainage and differential movement. The latter can be used with stone and concrete or concrete block back-up walls in warm dry climates. On high rise buildings a 2" stone cladding is usually supported by an elaborate system of stainless steel pins and connectors with a cavity behind it. Comments (6)There'll be around 30, and assume proportionally more if I go with MR16 halogen to meet the same lighting requirements. How come the installer makes a difference in this decision? Just to be clear here, all of the recessed lights have to be installed from scratch so we can assume it's the same installer regardless of the type. Your guesses are probably better than mine re: costs of the lamps over time.. If I go with the Ushio Ultraline Titan MR16 with "up to" 18000 hour life, they'll have to be replaced at least twice as often as LEDs... So assuming the same # of cans, I'm winning until LED prices come down to double of halogen, or less. What about a pure aesthetics perspective? If we take cost out of the equation, what would you recommend?...See Morewater pressure 1/2 vs 3/4
Comments (3)really the pressure difference is none, the volume will be about HALF though. so if it takes 30 minutes to put out 1" of water thru a sprinkler, it will take closer to 1 hour. same thing with if you use a 5/8" hose versus a 3/4" water hose, the 5/8" takes longer to put out the same amount of water....See MoreWall mount faucets for filling deep tub (3/4 inch valve vs. 1/2)
Comments (5)Newport Brass makes several models of wall mount tub fillers. This one is 8GPM, which is plenty, as far as I am concerned: Tub Filler I have a similar Newport Brass wall mount that puts out less volume, but is still adequate. Just be aware that, if the spout does not extend far enough into the tub that the water stream hits the bottom, you may get splashback onto the nearby bathroom wall with a spout that is only far enough over the tub edge that the stream hits the upper area of the inner wall of the tub. This is especially true for a high volume valve....See Moredavidro1
