Name some examples that you think are Palindromes

One episode of Jeopardy last week had Palindromes as a category.

The answers were completely unlike the palindromes I'm familiar with.

In my estimation, a palindrome is spelled the same backwards and forwards.......mom, dad, kayak, racecar.

Their answers were devil/lived; dennis/sinned. So needless to say I didn't get any of the answers right.

Which do you think is right?

Palindrome: a word, phrase or sentence that reads the same backward as forward.

Maybe there's another version, eh?

You know, I think one should dispense with the fiction that a lot of these photos propagate about ground covers and about stepping stones, one best addressed with the words "professional gardener." And I say that as someone who just spent two hours outside putting in plugs of ground cover to replace a small area of lawn. There are two primary nightmares in gardening (at least that are top of mind for me at the moment): one is weeds, the other is edges and boundaries. The thing about ground covers is that until they grow in, you have to be vigilant about weeds, a vulnerability of every square inch of uncovered ground. Then once they have grown in, you have to start guarding the edges of their territory to make sure they stay within boundaries. Those stepping stones will eventually disappear under each of those ground cover scenarios, including the checkerboards done with grass, unless someone goes out there and trims them. Plants like thyme also eventually mound up and become something you have to step over going from stone to stone, again unless you trim them down annually. Everything in a yard that is not paved (and believe me, I am judiciously considering the benefits of all paving except beds) needs maintenance, and most of these examples require some tedious work. If you hire out your garden work anywhere, more power to you :-) If you do it yourself, consider the maintenance work in your selection. Those paving stones in grass were probably just edged... every single edge of every single stone. Of course, there is up front work vs. future work. I don't think the company is going to name a rose in his name unless they have tested that rose world wide and have great results from around the world. Why would you take a chance on something that might grow great in Central England and just so-so at best everywhere else? When they do it, expect a REALLY good rose. Then again that rose just might be in a special corner of a special green house just waiting.

I thought the same as jasdip and others--the same spelled frontwards or backwards, but I just remembered this one--

Able was I ere I saw Elba.

But devil/lived still doesn't sound right to me.

OK, Google says it is a word, sentence, group of words, or numbers that read the same forward and backwards. Learn something new every day,especially at the KT.

We'd have to look at the way the category was described by Alex or the way its title was written.

One or the other should have indicated that the answers were two words that were reverse spelling of each other, because a regular palindrome is as you described it - one word that is spelled the same backward as forward.

Anyone want a pattern for a cool palindrome cable scarf? :-)

Normally, cables only look good on the "right" side. The palindrome cable scarf looks the same on both sides.
