Wanted to say thanks to glenda for posting her Shrimp and Grits casserole recipe. Made it for Christmas Eve and it was a huge hit. Not knowing exactly when my sons were going to arrive, I made up and left in fridge until they arrived. Popped into oven and by the time all the hellos and getting settled was done, dinner was ready. My sons loved it and requested the recipe, something they never do. So good they ate it all and I had no leftovers to deal with, which was a good thing.

I frequent Joel's downtown Trussville, when their menu calls my name :o) Sometimes I meet Linda from GA now from Al, who lives in Remlap Or there's The Summit, which is 459 for you coming from Trussville onto 280. I live close to The Summit. I have new wheels, will travel :o) Next week, first part is birthday for my son, turning 48, so maybe the end of the week or the next week? Will see how Linda's schedule goes. I have her email and phone number as well. Great to see you reconnected to the KT.

Glenda, I didn't know you were going to be alone Thanksgiving. You know you would have been more than welcome here. Of course you would have had to let Luther get over his 5 minutes of elation of having company first though before he settled down. sigh I'm glad you will be dining with Carole. And while we're at it, thank you Glenda for one of our favorite coleslaw recipes. I can't tell you how many times we've enjoyed it over the years. How long ago did you go on that cruise?

I'll repost it for anyone who hasn't seen it. There's a photo of it on the last WFD thread.

ALASKAN COLESLAW
5 cups shredded cabbage
1/2 cup almonds, toasted
1 cup dried cranberries (I use 1/2 cup)
1/2 cup celery, diced
1/4 cup chopped green onions, white and green parts
1/2 cups chopped green bell pepper

Dressing:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon sweet pickle relish
1 tablespoon honey mustard
1 tablespoon honey
Salt and pepper

Combine cabbage, almonds, cranberries, celery, green onions, and green pepper in a large bowl. Combine all dressing ingredients, adding salt and pepper to taste, and refrigerate until ready to serve. Pour dressing over slaw just before serving. Stir well.
