I love where I live, too. My parents are always trying to get me to go on a cruise with them and I tell them that I already live in paradise. I have no need to go on a cruise.

(If someone wants to give me a free first class trip to western Europe, it will take me fifteen minutes to pack! LOL!)

No cruises for me--not a boat person--but would like to go to Australia. Did lots of traveling in RV all over US, Canada and Baja CA. Have camped out forever and even did it with son was 9 mo and that was way before throw away diapers etc.. Dirt is good!! but so much fun!

Yes - I'm one who is very happy at home. I take the Grandsons on a nice vacation each summer, for 10 days, but it's just for them - I'm a home-body.

I too don't like to travel. Like my home, my big yard, my ponds ,and my pets. I miss them too much when I'm away.

I've seen most of the US, many parts of Canada, some Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and Hawaii. I would love to see Thailand and Alaska. I know I will get to Alaska. But the older I get, the more I hate to travel also. Oh, I forgot I've seen much of the Caribbean. I just hate the "travel" part of traveling. I hate being on a plane and I hate the hassle of the airport. I guess if I flew first class everywhere that would be better, lol.

Well, I'm just as happy you're home as you are to be there. Sure did miss you!

I'm not a traveler either. Motion sickness is not a pretty thing! Plus but the time I've planned, packed and have everything ready to go, I'm too tired to enjoy it!! Except I still want to see Mt. Rushmore!

I'm a homebody, too. Lots of people spend vacations and weekends in the beautiful countryside where I live all the time.

When I was young I wanted to travel, but I lost the desire some time back. A couple of my traveling friends can't understand this. One of them particularly loves Venice. I read this morning on MSNBC that Venice is sinking five times faster than previously thought......

GeorgysMom, I feel just like you. I don't really like travelling. When I was younger, I visited most of the US, parts of Europe. Never got to the Far East but I don't really care. I live in Long Island NY. Not in the Hamptons with the movie stars and rich people, but I am near 2 state parks and can drive to sandy beautiful beaches anytimne I like. I have great malls and nature parks nearby,plenty of professional sports teams, and if I want culture New York City is only an hour away by train. I feel uneasy when I travel, worry about my house and pets, can't wait to come home after several days away.

Well, Glenda, the first week we stayed in a timeshare exchange. It was an older place, small but clean. Very unexciting and that's what made we wonder why we gave up our lovely home and Georgy, too. We spent one day visiting friends in Naples which was lovely. Went to lunch at a place on the beach and as I looked out the view was magnificent. It looked like a painting you see at some restaurants for sale but never buy because it doesn't look real. There was a sea of mustard colored umbrellas, people in bathing suits and the bluest sky with clouds so perfect, they didn't look real. I could have sat there all day but somebody else was waiting to eat.
The second week we were in Satellite Beach and our unit was on the ocean. We've been there before and love it. DH loves to just sit and watch the ocean. I'm not a big picture taker and the only pictures I took were of the pools. LOL During the first week I got talking to a man I met at the pool and he was telling me he owned a week at the place we were staying and wanted to buy a second week. I said, would you be interested in a timeshare in Williamsburg, just kidding, but he actually was. If we could sell it, we would. It's a beautiful place, but if we knew then what we know now, we never would have bought one here, we would have bought it where we want to go every year. So hopefully, he's still interested and wants to buy it. I don't mind going away for a few days, but two weeks is too long to be away from Georgy. Sure did miss her.

Susan, my dream when I was younger was to travel, too. Not so much anymore. I did love Venice, too. I loved all the places I've been to, but love here the best!

I traveled a fair bit by plane & car through the various states in years past during my two or three week vacations. My only out of country trip was to Tahiti in the mid 1960ties. I often used to envy an early-retired neighborhood couple who were taking off for somewhere while I was on my way to my daily 9 to 5 grind, & looked forward to retirement so we could do the same.

However I found that when retirement actually came, that I wasn't really interested in traveling---I came to the realization that my envy really involved them having the freedom to pick up anytime they wanted & go where they pleased---not the trip itself. And, since retirement, I have that freedom, traveling is not very alluring.

So I prefer to stay close to home, and day trips in the SF-Bay Area suffice for me.

DH and I have traveled by land, air and sea. Now we just enjoy our home north of Chicago most of the year and 'home away from home' at our Maui condo for several weeks to break the winter.

Air travel is an awful chore these days. The 'security' nonsense is a pain, and the airlines treat people like pieces of freight. I'd enjoy visiting the UK and Europe again, but it's not compelling enough to brave the 'getting there'.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who is a homebody. My DD and SIL go to the islands or Costa Rico every year and have traveled everywhere with their son. And my son also has been everywhere. Now he goes for two week cycling trips to exotic places. I know they think I'm a stick in the mud, but they only have two cats and reliable me to take care of them. I live in PA Dutch country half way between Gettysburg where many come every year and Lancaster which is a huge tourist stop. Also I can be on the beach in OC, NJ in exactly three hours , two hours to Phila, Baltimore , DC and three hours to NYC. So I just do day trips.

Another "content to just stay at home" person here. No animal sitter so really couldn't travel if we wanted to. I'd fly alone to our daughter IF it was an emergency.

My friend just drove from B'ham with Molly Beth to Dallas, to spend time with her 89 year old mother. Molly Beth endured the trip quite well.

Nothing pleases me more to enjoy the beach just sitting and enjoying the sound of the waves. ahhhhh

Walk the beach early, and late. No sunning during the heat of the day.

The worst part of traveling for me leaving my house unattended and the expense. I do love seeing new places and observing how other people have adapateed to a particular location and terrain. Their practical solutions are fun to behold.

During my employment years, we took a vacation each year. As my vacation time increased, we decided to see many of the grand sights in the USA and have never regretted it. from 1976 through 1992, we included rockhounding with our trips. That took us to some back-in places and places wew would not have otherwise visited. for example, we visited the quartz cyrstal area in Arkansas and Glass Buttes in Oregon.

After retirement, we became interested in our family's genealogy and have visited places where our ancestors had been to observe their home turfs and to collect data. That activity turned into a living lesson in early US History. After those trips, we decided there was a better way to teach Early American History than the old traditional chore we had slogged through. Tracing ancestors through early America is much more facinating and the lesson stays in your memory. When you make a connection with an event in history, you have a better understanding of it.

So, where will we travel to next? I dob't know. We do have a few items left on our bucket list, but these at the moment are dream trips and may never happen.

Possible trips"

1. Inner passage cruise to Alaska. I have distant relatives living there, but we have never become aquainted.

2. Tour Ireland, Scotand, and Wales. Some of our ancestors came from there to the North American shore before there was a US.

3. Tour Asutrailia and New Zeeland.

4. Spend a week in Costs Rica.

5. Go back to Yosemite to see it again and to tour other sights nearby that we missed when we were there.

6. Visit the maritine provinces of Canada.

7. Go back to Syracuse, New York. We need to research a bit more family data in that location.

What do we enjoy the most? Beautiful, grand scenery.
