That's nice Joan. I bet the contrasts are hard to get.

I haven't tried to capture flame yet.

thanks all. I've decided that roses in the snow will go to my sisters house this fall instead of the daylily sale. :)

Spring fever this year was absolutely killing me, so seeing these was definitely a nice site!! I was very surprised to see these popping out so early in the year. They seem a little suicidal coming up in early April in Iowa. I don't think they were up until early May last year. Weird. Unfortunately, I have noticed a couple with some freeze/frost damage already though. At least the temp here isn't supposed to dip down below freezing for the next week or so. Of course, I heard that from a meteorologist, so who's to say? lol

Me again, back with a better picture of my bathroom. This gives a pretty good idea of the vanity color, though it doesn't quite show how yellowed and plasticky the current vanity top is: I like the white trim with the warm wood of the vanity, but would like the vanity top to be a closer to the other whites in the room, and of course the wall color is the big question. I was suddenly seized in the middle of the night with the idea that the walls should be a sort of melon or persimmon color, and I brought over a pillow in that sort of color, which you can just see to the right side of the frame. That might be a bit much, but it could be really fun. I was thinking of using a shower curtain with a palette like the one linked below, from Pottery Barn, and picking up the melony color in it. Hmm... Here is a link that might be useful:

When we moved into our 1960’s bungalow, it had many rooms with “bold” accent walls. These served to make the rooms dark and closed in. We repainted the entire main floor with BM Cloud White (which has a creamy tone to it). Baseboards and trim plus the kitchen cabinets were done in BM Chantilly Lace (which is a brighter white.) The floors and interior doors are birch hardwood with a lot of colour variation. The transformation was stunning. The consistency of birch floors and white walls on the entire main floor gave the space a light, airy feel. The white looks different depending on which room you are in and where the light is coming from. I can’t say enough good things about all white walls. I would do it over again in a heart beat.

I don't know what it was. She had bought it somewhere. I think you can find it by googling it.

That's a wonderful shot. Sorry to be a pest, but would you mind giving the EXIF & lens info? I'd like to try to take a picture like that, imitation being the sincerest sort of flattery, etc., etc. :)
