Cover with sarah wrap and then bake????

Twice this week I've come across some people suggesting that this or that (prime rib roast and also pork chops in some kind of sauce) should be put in a baking pan, covered with sarah or other plastic wrap, then cover the plastic wrap with foil, and bake in a 325 or 350 degree oven.

Is saran wrap heat proof? Wouldn't it be plastic-y melty?

Why would one cover a baking pan with saran wrap and then foil when just covering it with foil would do?

Am I missing something? Did I miss the memo?

Thanks!

Smiles,

Sooz
