Also, you might consider Chamblee's Roses. They are shipped in gallon pots and are more mature than roses of many own-root vendors. Chamblee's selection is not as extensive as some, but they do have nice roses. Another vendor with larger own-root plants is High Country Roses, though their selection is aimed at colder climates. Still, you might find some you like there; I have. Amity Heritage Roses used to sell the largest own-root bands around, just gorgeous plants, but I don't think they are currently active. It didn't look like it to me when I last visited their website. Probably there are others, but I'm only mentioning ones I have purchased from myself. My personal favorite vendor is Vintage, and I buy the majority of my roses there, but you do have to mature them in a gallon pot yourself. Rosefolly

It sure is a very eyecatching double and would look good in my doubles bed. (But then so does your other double!) I did see that Marietta Polkadot when ordering from Marietta but I didn't get it, but if I had seen your photo first (and read that it has great foliage too)it would have jumped in my cart. I love the eyezone on your first one, Last Snowflake is stunning, and well....they're all lovely as can be. (Even the spider, enjoying himself on that pretty bloom.) I always enjoy your photos. I've found this regarding the included fertilizer: "What is LECHUZA-PON? LECHUZA-PON is the plant substrate from LECHUZA for house and pot plants. It is the ideal alternative to conventional potting soil — particularly in combination with the LECHUZA sub-irrigation set. LECHUZAPON stores added nutrients which are then released to the plants as they need them. It can also retain up to 40% of its volume in water while at the same time maintaining the optimum air pore volume. LECHUZAPON supports aeration of the roots while providing optimum dosage of water to the plants. What is LECHUZA-PON composted of? Does LECHUZA-PON contain fertilizer? LECHUZA-PON plant substrate is made up of pumice, zeolites, lava and fertilizer. The following fertilizer declaration is applicable to the fertilizer: 1 liter (approximately 1 quart) LECHUZA-PON contains 3g slowrelease fertilizer 15-9-9+3. NPK fertilizer, coated, contains magnesium and trace nutrients effective for 6-12 months. At the end of this period fertilize the plants as usual using commercial liquid fertilizer in the water".

The nursery told me to plant these in afternoon shade, the plant label tells me full sun as these are tropical hot weather plants, and the empty spaces in my garden all get afternoon sun from 2:00 pm to sunset or just a couple of hours of morning sun. Anyone have any experience with these in the bay area? I can do full sun, afternoon sun, or a couple of hours of morning sun! What would you recommend? (I have also posted this on the California forum, but i thought there might be jasmine experts here, so pardon the repost.) KC
