My very favorite, Matilda, has gone to her new home. Sniffle. Weep. Sob... If only I didn't have ten thousands kitties already... I would've kept that little darling. :) But she's gone! And her new Mommy loves her so much. I'm so happy for her. It looks like two others have homes as well. The Calico is going to a nice man who has one kitty, and fell in love with the Calico kitten. She'll be going to his home in a week or so. My friend has a friend who wants the little tabby kitten. She swears she really wants her, but she hasn't come by yet to see her. And the diluted Calico is still not spoken for. I'm feeling much relief now that Matilda has a good home and that two of the others will be going. Now, just one to find a home for! They are 8 weeks old now. And very good at climbing the curtains. :)

I think your kittens are bonding already. Kittens do a lot of mock fighting, chasing, and lying in wait and attacking each other, and it is all part of "growing up cat." I bred Abyssinian kittens in Japan for 7 years, so I have had the fun of seeing a lot of kittens. It sounds to me like the case Cat Mom describes. I always assumed that a kitten that squealed was protesting being hurt, but something interesting happened to me when I was bottle-raising an abandoned kitten. I used to "play' with it. It would get on its back and attack my hand, biting and scratching me. My hand would pretend it was trying to reach the kitten's tummy to tickle it, and I never did anything that could hurt the kitten, but IT would squeal as if it were being hurt, while it really was hurting my hand. That tipped me off to the fact that at least some of the cries kittens utter while play-fighting really just mean that they are excited. There were times when we had a new kitten and some adult cat didn't like it--maybe even administered a small bite or slapped the kitten on the head, but even then, there was no damage, and within two weeks at the longest they were friends. Just supervise a little when they are playing.

Thanks all for your responses. Well, I made my decision, and it is to choose the quieter, more shy kitten. One thing I realized I did not mention in my OP, was that my cat did have a companion he loved dearly, but she passed. She was playful, but let him be the boss. Actually, she did what she pleased, but she was clever at letting him think he was the king of the castle. As I mentioned, I was going to visit the two sister kittens again to decide. So, I did so, and I sat on the living room floor with them. The more outgoing one was VERY busy. My goodness, she was investigating everything, and exploring everywhere, and didn't have a hint of fear or timidity or hesitation. The only thing was, she was so busy, she didn't have any interest in me. Meanwhile, the more timid kitten was very scared the first few minutes and just didn't move. Then I took out a Cat Dancer, and got her attention. She played with it, and came out of her shell and showed how cute she could be. The more outgoing kitten was too occupied exploring everything to play with me or interact with me. Also, to echo what Bizabet said, my senior cat at home is very much like the outgoing kitten. My cat has never shown any fear his whole life, even at the vet. And he can even be a little aggressive toward delivery people or workmen he feels are invading his "kingdom". Although now that he is senior he has mellowed, but I think it might be a conflict with the kitten who is just as outgoing and unafraid as he is. I think he would like a kitten companion he could be big brother to, and be in charge of. I'll likely be posting back to let you know how they get along. I know that it could take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks for them to settle down, but I am certain I am choosing the right one.

The 12 week old kittens do not seem to be possessive of their food or toys. They are VERY playfull however and get into everything. They are constantly running around and jumping (like kittens do) and I'm afraid they might hurt one of the little ones. I'm also a little wary of mama cat attacking the 12 week old kittens if she perceives them to be a threat. I've moved the kittens and mama cat into a spare bedroom. Mama cat is not happy with this arragement (wants out) and my four house cats are not happy either. But I couldn't leave the little ones outside. The kittens are pretty happy as they are climbing all over everything and like to pile in the corner to sleep. They are pooping all the carpet however and my fiance is not happy about this. I put a small shoe box (with very low sides next to the mother's litter box in the hopes they will use that but they just poop on the floor in front of the litter box.
