Oh dear, maybe I should have quit while I was ahead after the first quiz... I do grow Witt. superba, but that pic had me stymied. I have seen Neo. Goode for Grace once, at Olive's nursery. It has only been recently imported to Oz, and still costs big dollars. Seeing it again now, I really can't see how it improves on Predatress or Enchantment. Vr. Sherlette Shiigi, Neo Kiko, and Vr Margarita are not in Oz - I don't think? They are certainly not easily available. I've admired Vr. Margarita in pics posted here before, and on FCBS. That one is sure on my wish list! Had to laugh at your mutterings Andy! These quizzes are great fun, though challenging. They have inspired me to take some macro shots as well. One of our GW lurkers has suggested I present one (or more) of these quizzes at our Gold Coast brom society meetings - so thanks for the idea, Lisa! I need to keep in mind how much easier it is for the photographer... We will award one point for the correct genus, and two points for correct genus and species/cultivar. I'll have a couple of more difficult ones aside as tie-breakers, if necessary. And first prize? - a nice brom, of course! I'll show you just one of the photos I've already taken in preparation for our meeting quiz. It is soooo like one of Japie's! Who am I? That one would stump most of our society members, so it would probably be a tie-breaker question. Out of necessity, and especially for our novices, most of the other images I have taken for our meeting quiz are much easier - I think. Thanks Japie, Lisa and Nick for the treats! Bring on the next one! K

Thanks Guys...You're the best! Coniferfreak I think you may have found it for me. I looked up Buxus microphylla var.Koreana 'Green Gem' and the pics and description sound spot on: "Noted for rounded globular shape & extreme winter hardiness, seldom needs pruning." Thanks too Resin I think you gave me a good clue which will help me i.d. this one..."the leaves are too slender and pointed at the apex for that". I was able to determine that it probably wasn't 'Winter Green' because its leaves looked more rounded than mine. I think that noting the pointedness (not a word) will be a good clue for narrowing down which one I have. I tried to find a close up of Green Gem's leaves, but no luck so far. I will be taking a branch with me to the nurseries and comparing it with 'Green Gem'. Thanks for letting me know that the Korean Boxwoods are a good choice for wintery zones, Gardengal. BTW...do you do mail order? Do you have boxwood standards! :-) Eileen

Thanks for the support and encouragement! tsheets: Yeah, I was thinking the same thing! I thought that the growth and bud development might slow a bit with so many pods set, but it did the exact opposite...lol...I feel like they're coming triple speed!! Josh: Always a pleasure, my friend. These plants would be scraggly messes without your input and advice. Cheers! Bruce: I'm exicted enough about the first harvest...you're going to make my head explode talking about 2nd and 3rds...HAH! I do hope that I can keep at least a few of them healthy through the summer. Bugs are going to get baaaaaaad down here in the near future....not to mention that it rains every day. I'll cross that bridge when I come to it though. I actually got a very late start on these plants. They went into pots in February...I could have gotten alot more out of them if I started last fall. That's not a mistake that I will make this year! Onwards and Upwards!! PJ

We can't decide whether we should keep and resurface the current bathtub or replace it with a glass enclosed standing only shower. We are kind of leaning toward the shower only option because we feel like the glass enclosure would open up the room more; I think you've got plenty of space in an 8' wide room that a tub shouldn't make it feel claustrophobic. Taking down the wall between the sink and tub/toilet will do the most to open it up. That said, if you prefer a shower over a tub, then by all means do that. however, we aren't really sure how to design the shower area. Should the glass go all the way to the floor or should there be a partial wall in the area next to the shower door? A wall will make it feel more closed in/cozy/private and glass will make it feel more open/less private. Some people like to show off their beautiful tile work. Others don't like to feel out in the open with a wall of glass. Depends on which you prefer and are more comfortable with. Would it be best to relocate the shower head to the exterior wall (same wall as window) or should we keep it where it is (on the wall next to that closet)? I don't see any reason to do so, and it would just incur extra plumbing costs, for both the water supply and the drain. If so, could it be designed in such a way to eliminate the need of a shower door? You generally need a wider shower to do that. And furthermore, is it even smart to keep everything in the same general location as it is now or is there a better layout option all together? It's smart in terms of cost to keep everything in the same location. And I don't see any problems with your current/proposed layout, in terms of wasted space or awkward configurations. If it were me, I'd leave everything where it is.
