Siam, Anartia jatrophae does use some plants from the Acanthaceae family as LFP's, although I don't know about Hemigraphis as one myself. Ruellia is the genus from this family I am familar with being associated with this bug. But I imagine there could be other genus within this family used as well. I believe plants from the Verbenaceae and Rutaceae families are maybe more commonly used in the tropics though. Larry

That was last Monday. Today there's not much of anything flying other than birds...40.5ð right now and wet from the rain last night. That plant is White Mistflower, Eupatorium havanense, a shrubby plant that is used quite a bit by butterflies in the fall. They bloomed late this year and the butterflies just loved them when they finally bloomed! It's slowly seeding out, so won't be blooming long.

How long do you hold them before release? I actually have improved my chrysalis hamper quite a bit. There is a vase full of fresh, cut flowers and a platform where I can place an orange slice or other fruit. I try to give them enrichment items. I typically release them within hours, but I had one that didn't want to leave, so she hung out in the hamper for a couple of days and finally flew of on a sunny, warm morning.

Cindee All Native Garden Center is at 300 Center Rd in Ft. Myers. Thank goodness for car navigators. DH bought one for our vacation and now I am in love with it for finding distant nurseries. They were recommended by the Calsua Nature Center. Before I had to print everything out from google maps and read while driving. I love technology when it makes my gardening more fun. I also bought a red bay tree (2'), more pipevine, more corky passionflower, Tampa verbena and something called yellowtop (flaveria linearis). The nursery isn't as extensive as Biosphere but it's close and they have the butterfly plants I wanted and friendly people too.
