Knowing which plugs are hotter or colder than the ones you presently have in your engine is easy if you're content to stay with the same brand. Nearly all of the world's plug makers use a number-based code to designate heat range: foreign firms follow a system in which higher numbers mean colder plugs; American companies do just the opposite, assigning hotter plugs higher numbers. Unfortunately, there is no semblance of order beyond this point. One company, Champion, is in a state of nomenclature transition that makes its product line inordinately confusing. The American Rule applies at Champion, but in an odd way, spread across three series of heat ranges that encompass touring and racing spark plugs, old and new, with double-digit numbers assigned to some and single digits for others.

Oh Jolana, I just noticed the thread you saved. How in the world did you save that? We sure had a lot of fun. I'm glad it kept you going through rough times. My vote is for George Clooney. He can mulch my beds any day. lol Shoo...is it hot in here?

Snow day and storm prep anxiety, i cooked all day last tuesday... One meal event was a beef stew. Not using a recipe, just instinct, in the oven by noon, i decided on 220 for 4-5 hours. It was in and out a couple times. Once for some crackers that needed baking and later for a tray of roasted veg. It ended up right where i wanted it. My X and Y determined on table serving time being aprox 7pm. Giving it a rest again around 5 for a while as i believe a stew needs a rest, then back up to high heat just before serving. This was not a crock-pot deal. I had the time to give it attention. I do think a rule of thumb comes into play, using density and experience. This beef, cut large, spent the first hour alone with just a large onion. And a bit of Guinness. Added the softened vegetables, also cut large, after an hour, with a pint of smoked stock, a few chopped tomatoes. Enameled cast iron was just over half full. A crock-pot deal-e-o can be good and comforting. Having the luxury to babysit and give some care about time and temp can elevate to fantastic.

It's my understanding that once you pick out your slabs, then they are "fabricated" and during the fabrication process the slabs are polished (smoothed out). So I would think either brand should come out smooth, but lets not assume anything. You should call and ask just to be sure. I have a white HanStone counter and it's perfectly smooth.
