I hope he gets back on his feet, quite literally, soon! I know I'd end up with all the family pictures. At least on my mom's side. My dad, I'm less certain. He's been scanning some. I hope he's done a lot of them! The LF (little fella) (not so little any more. He's finally more than 100 pounds, and taller than 5 feet) is not doing anything. Hence, my disappointment. Boo on him! He did make and sell $100 worth of jewelry. He won't even do that anymore. He skipped out on selling discount books (those sell like hotcakes every year), local grocery cards, fruit, candy... all of it. All he has to do is show up with the jewelry, and my friends/family will buy it. The weirdest part of that is, he wanted to start his own "business" with it? He even had a leger he was keeping. He has supplies. He likes to do it. So what gives? Dunno. Haven't overcome that obstacle yet.

The view cards may be worth more than the viewer if scenes of historic interest are recorded. For example, my family also has a steroscope that was sold through a catalog by Sears Roebuck & Co. It dates to about 1905. We have card no.1 - Mr. Sears at his desk! And what a messy desk it was with an old time telephone. His office looked like a back room in a dry goods store. We do not have a complete set which would be extensive. Some of our cards are numbered in the 1700s. We have a few cards with scenes of the Klondike gold rush. These cards may or may not have a high market value, but they have value to me and therefore are not for sale. One special card is a stero view of the moon made by Mr. Rutherford himself. It explains on the back of the card how the shot was made.

I am looking for art too! And along the lines of what you're considering, so I am all for your plan. I think it would look great! I don't have a window over my sink, but I don't like having cabinets in my face in the major work zones, and I wanted something prettier to look at there than cabinets. I also like and want color without committing future buyers to liking my color choices. So I have planned on a statement art piece as my kitchen's focal point from the beginning. I have have always loved this kitchen: This was my mood board for my kitchen: This is the space I'm trying to fill: The painting from my mood board is unfortunately too short and wide. I need something bold and colorful like that, but also tall and thin. This isn't as colorful as I had in mind, but it makes me laugh so much that I am half considering it anyway:

Gosh.........I haven't succumbed yet to reams of ideas. I usually start daydreaming about the next quilt about 3/4 of the way through the current one. Yeah, I look a lot, and think about it a lot and late at night, pull up quilt pictures on the inet and drool. But don't make a committment enough to bind it or save it on a file. The next project just bubbles up and surfaces by itself and I kind of like it that way. I will save a few ideas however, like a particular technique I may want to explore down the road, but that doesn't include specifics. I do save the directions to the patterns of most of the quilts or quilt blocks I have finished, and put them in a binder. That way, if I ever want to repeat one it's handy. There is only one quilt on my agenda now and it's a Blue Ridge Beauty, and thanks to the internet, when I decide to start one, alls I have to do is key it in and it'll come up. I get swayed heavily on projects by the Lotto. I worked ahead on the blocks and when I got to Roberta's Jewels............I just couldn't stop and ended up with a queen sized quilt top. LOL. I have a feeling Depression Block is going to do the same thing. I have this thing for scrappy.
