hit the link.. and name every hurricane that has hit this tree in the last 100 years ... i dont understand how you move beyond severe storm damage.. to bugs and/or disease ... when you live in hurricane alley didnt katrina hit sw AL??? according to the link at the link.. it did ... are you in SW AL???? last week i had an 18 inch diameter limb come down in a wind preceding a thunderhead ... it was not enough to damage any other tree for miles around.. i would bet a wooden nickle that it was damaged in last winters severe ice storm .. when another branch came down ... but it hung there until the wind finished the job ... why wouldnt that logic suffice to question whether your branches were not damaged in the last hurricane that came this trees way??? pure speculation on my part ... ken Here is a link that might be useful: link

Hello, so far I have found, the Regal Prince is getting wider, its filling in denser and its trunk is really thicking up more than the Scarlet. Fall colors are good on the Regal, but I would have to say compared to the Scarlet, hands down great color to the Scarlet. On the Scarlet, it has definitely shown its quicker growth rate abilities, and is stretching upwards at an alarming rate! The Scarlet is staying much more columnar and more open than the Regal Prince. However, the Scarlet is a younger tree than the Regal Prince is, so once it catches up to the Regal Prince, who k he ows all what could change. The trunk of the Scarlet oak is thickening up, but at a much slower rate than the Regal Prince for sure. I'm thinking the Regal Prince is gonna be a bigg'in for sure. Hope this helped, cheers.

Even that can be mega-risky with all that powder. Proper felling technique relies on the fibers of the wood itself helping to direct the fall. When a tree gets this rotten, all that fiber is gone. I'd rate this expert only.

For the most part, I think Hug's got it. There are a few pathogenic processes where you can end up with something like. Look up slime flux and bacterial wetwood, two of the finest terms in all horticulture. Good eye, noticing these subtleties-it's a big part of what makes trees and all of nature so enticing. But I'll bet there's no problem here.
