Spider web

This was a huge web- the spider was especially busy that night. It went from high in the dogwood in front, down to the chairs and grass, then in the upper right corner back to another tree about 8 feet behind me.

screen enclosure spider webs help

I'm not going to be much help here but I feel you pain-hehe. I had tons of spiders at my last house in Land O Lakes. It was on stilts and under the house was a major spider attracter. Mostly I just let them be but it was not a pretty sight. Sometimes I'd get them down with a broom. The last year I lived there I had a bug control company that swept the webs and then sprayed for the spiders and that was a big help. On and around the window I used windex...the kind you put through the hose to reach high places...that worked well on spider webs. I just didn't want to use that under the house where it would wet the insilation.

Need help on spider webs on seeding pots

What you are seeing isn't spider webs but fungus. Algae and molds (usually greenish color) and fungi spores grow on the surface of soils that are kept too moist and if there is inadequate air circulation. They can be harmful to the seedlings if allowed to proliferate but prevention is easy - cut back on watering. Also if possible increase the air circulation around the plants - many use a small fan to do this. You can find out much more info about this over on the Growing from Seed forum here as there are other discussions there about it right now. Suggest you plan to direct seed your radishes and carrots in the garden in the future as both are tap root plants and are very intolerant of transplanting. If the top root is damaged in the process the parts you would eat are usually twisted, broken or distorted. Dave

The fuzz is normal. You can put this outside for the summer or, in temperate climates, all year round.

Is this a spider web or some pests eggs?

It's a cutting and will be planted out soon. And it looks like spraying with water and insecticidal soap are good controls. Thanks,

I have never seen a spider web that big. Do you know what kind of spider made it?

Deel, this is a picture of a spider from last year- I didn't try to make pictures this year. But I assume it is the same kind of spider. The webs last year were pretty big, too, but not as big as the one in the picture. I don't know what kind of spider it is- I just enjoy watching them spin their webs some times.

That is amazing. I never heard of such a huge one before. I'm surprised the filaments show up so well from a distance like that. Are they wider than normal spider webs or did the light hit it just right for you? I'm really curious about such a spider.

Aliska, there was a heavy dew that morning so the web was wet and I guess the light was right. This is a foggy time of the year and I'm hoping to get more shots of webs before the spiders all disappear. That was by far the largest web I have seen around our yard.

Very Nice picture! I can't seem to get as great of a photo as you did, when it comes to spider webs.

Once again, very nice.

The spider is an Orb Weaver(Araneus spp). Each night the web is replaced with a new one, spun in total darkness by touch alone.

Never have seen a web that big. Excellent capture. My house is full of tiny spiders that make webs all over I wish I knew how to get rid of them.
