also they will give that warning when there is a known problem with the latest version of a program that has not yet been updated or patched, that may well be the case here. They know there is an issue with the latest version but there is not yet a new patched one out yet so they still let you know that what you have currently can be a security risk. In those cases some people would choose to uninstall and wait others will just stay with what they have till the patched version is released.

caco has good recommendation. As Photoshop Element is such a popular software, you could find many users, and it is unlikely the company would be out of business in the foreseeable future. Costco or Amazon have good price on the software. You could also take a Photoshop Element class at your local community college through online or in person. I took one years ago, and am planning to register for the spring session to learn about updates in the current version. The course is still very affordable, it offers structured learning, and you will have a instructor and classmates to help you with questions, tips & tricks.

DD called a professional photographer today, so the heat is off trying to get good newborn pictures for the announcements. I have a little breathing room to look at various editing programs. I've begun to understand the concept of layers. I played with Pixlr Editor for a while yesterday. There aren't a lot of tutorials online for Pixlr. Some of the best I found were for grammar school children (hmmm...I think that says it all). Haven't tried Gimp yet.
