Shots with new lens

Its an inexpensive telephoto...500mm f8 with a 2x converter...you can really reach out there with it. Its totally different from the auto nikon lenses I've been using.

Kathy the macro is a Nikon (Nikkor) AF-S 85mm f/3.5G ED VR. I also have a Nikon 55-200 mm zoom but the macro takes better and more close up pics. This macro lens is about the strongest this camera can handle. Maybe after a year or so, if I progress I'll invest in a D700 that can handle a super macro but I'm not ready to spend $2500 for a camera body and another $800+ for a lens. Going from a digital point & shoot to the 5000 was a big enough step for me right now. lol Once I become more familiar, if I do, I'm going to look in the pawn shops for equipment. As long as I know what to look for, which I don't at this time, it will save me a lot of $$. You can get really nice camera equipment for a fraction of the retail cost at a pawn shop.

The structure is most definitely compromised. A slight mist of rain is ok and somewhat helpful in keeping the material moist and can aid in curing. A rain storm though, will change the ratio of cement to water and not provide a sound structure. If you have what you described, this pool should be removed and be started over again. I can see from the photos it's not good. Find a structural engineer in your area and pay for a consultation and a site visit. An engineer experienced with pool construction is highly recommended.

Good evening...

The cat tails (they really do look like cat tails!!) are actually seed heads from pearl millet. A forage/hay crop I plant on the ranch. I planted some along the edge of my garden, just for kicks. The birds love the stuff.

The lens is a Phoenix. The information states it is a preset lens, 11.7" long weighing 22.6 oz. It is a monster. There is a mount located on the first 1/3 of the lens for tri or mono pod use. Which is almost a must as the slightest quiver results in blurr. It came with the correct mounting ring for my d40x (which makes the overall length just over 12"). I'm hoping to get some closer shots of the deer, turkey, and wild hogs that run around the ranch.
