many years ago, mine would reseed. but the newer varieties not only don't reseed, but die after the first blooms. I'm not the only one having this problem around here. Several of us say we are never having petunias again and they used to be my favorites. (of course I always fall off the wagon and buy some anyway.)

I have a tree in my front yard and under the tree all of a sudden some leaves started started growing out of the ground and now they are spreading all around sporadically. I tried to uproot one of the plants and see that there is a dense network of thin roots. How can i get rid of these? Please see pics below. Thanks

There were flowering plants there in the past, before the herbivores found them. It's a good thing, because they can't spread any further if they can't make seeds. The BONAP map shows them in Ohio, but not Michigan, so they are on the move northward. Shade might be affecting the flowering too? Sylvestris smells like parsley. Caucalis smells like licorice, but the internet doesn't have much info about caucalis, because sylvestris gets all the attention.
