looks good so far! You will not be sorry you did this work. 1) the drain line does not need to slope downward for the sake of effeciency, the weight of the water above the drain will push water through. But if you plan to close and drain the pipe in the winter then it will help is if slopes down to the vortex. 2) 1 90 degree or two 45's will cause the same amount of head pressure on the gavity line. Neither should clog with a 4" pipe. They way you have it is fine. 3) there are many versions of the vortex out there. How big yours will need to be depends on the size of the pump. But since you seem pretty handy and not afraid to get your hands dirty, I would suggest a DIY microscreen vortex. its actually really simple to build and costs less then $50 in parts. You get a 55 gallon drum (free from the car wash). Then build a microscreen using stainless steel 250 micron screen (from aquatic eco systems) and a 5 gallon bucket. You can cone the bottom of the barrel and put a drain in the center. The microsreen goes at the top and spins. the pump pulls water from the center of the screen. The screen is self cleaning and makes and excellent mechanical filter. For more instructions on the DIY microscreen try the pond construction section at koishack.com or also try www. koi phen .com (remove the spaces, they have been blocked here, not sure why). Both sites have a sticky at the top of the construction section with DIY instructions.

Hi michelle, Having callus does not mean that your cuttings will root. I have been making cuttings when it was 80 to 85 F and "ALL" I got was a big plop of callus and no roots after 6 weeks. The same variety rooted in 2 to 3 weeks for me when it was about 70 to 75 F. So I asked the local mini grower with 15 years of experience and he told me right away, wait until it is cooler. He does "NOT" make any own root roses until Sept/Oct when itÂs cooler. For more info go to my web-site and read 2 articles : # 1 : " Making Cuttings from Cuttings, from Cuttings" # 2 : " A New Sport Star" I also have : Own Root Cuttings Setup Gallery with detailed comments and info for each of the 30 images. Check that out too. Good luck George Mander Here is a link that might be useful: Roses of Excellence

Thank you for all the suggestions! fondantfancy, We did consider switching the shower and toilet on the first plan, and even drew it, but when I showed the three plans to the contractor, he nixed that one. The spaces are much tighter than it seems from the drawings. Although the dimensions are to scale, the tub is just an icon my husband dropped in, and the real one will be a bit larger. We drew a rectangular shower in that position, but it has to go almost to the tub, making a kind of barrier along much of the tub side. I could make it glass there, but still. We have pretty much converged on the later plan now (shower and tub both against outside wall). shannonaz, we saw two possibilities for the shower. One is a rectagular shower butted against the tub/deck (is a "pony wall" a half wall with glass above?) and the same width. The other is the one shown here, with the shower cut off at an angle. The gap between them would be filled with a 12"-18" wide low cabinet for storage. If we leave the large window behind the door, then we don't have much storage in the room. tzmryg, This is not our master bath - we do not have a master bath, much to my dismay. We have two hall baths, all shared by my husband and myself and two sons. At the moment, the bath you see here is emptied out in preparation for gutting, and we are all using the other, very small hall bath. Here are photos from an earlier thread, posted when we were renovating that one: http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/bath/msg0917504220483.html I did look at the thread on turning one bath into two, and I was astounded at how well they turned out. I think that there were no windows in that space, which probably helped with space arrangement. I see your point about using the entire wall for the vanity/cabinets (we would have to remove the large window). But one reason for getting away from the plan with a vanity is cost - the cost of a large vanity is probably about the same as the cost of sealing the two windows and greatly enlarging the one over the bathtub. I think that the large window would add more to the room. What do you mean by "towers" - tall cabinets? If we stick with the second plan, we have the option of putting a floor-to-ceiling cabinet in the space behind the door, if we remove the window that is there now. If we don't remove the window, then we can us a low cabinet or bank of drawers.

I think the photos and description (albeit a bit long) are all very good. You've done a great job of outlining the amenities without going overboard. I agree about removing the picture with the car in the driveway...looks out of place. Also, while I have no quibbles about furniture placement, I do think the house looks a bit bare. I'd do a little staging. I like your friend's idea about place settings at tables, etc. The gal who staged one of my houses said you have to help buyers envision themselves sitting at your table, watching TV, sleeping in the bedrooms, etc. You could probably rent or borrow most of what you need to stage. You have a lovely home! I bet it's hard to leave it. Good luck with your sale.

I'm not an expert but I will give you my opinion. My expertice comes from a few photography classes I've taken and years of advice from the 4H photography judge.
Picture #1
It's a great picture but it's centered. Try to remember to use the rule of third (both ways, kinda like a tick-tac-toe board). The focus should never be precisely in the middle.
#2
You do an excellent job using the lines in this picture. There is something blue on the bottom of the picture. You might want to consider cutting the bottom 1/2" off of it to remove the blue thing and have the stump/log as the full background. Also consider removing part of the left 1/2" of the picture. That part isn't as in focus as the right side.
#3
This is my favorite one. Excellent color and patterns. I love the way that it's in focus on the center and then slowly blurrs the toward the outside of the picture.
#4
I can't really comment to much on this picture. The plant is obviously dead or soon to be, and I hate it when plants die. (I do have some at home that look worse than those but that's a whole different subject). The red "bark" of the vines do make an interesting patter. I especailly like the horizontal ones in the top third of the picture.

I hope this has been helpful. Keep up the good work and good luck with the competition.

Just to add on to the above post - I think #1 is underexposed. I dont know much about the Kodak DX4530 but maybe raise the ISO level change the metering to center weight. I see that your shutter speed was 1/700 second, you can easily lower this down to 1/100 and up the aperture. Just experiment with those and make sure to not get any blown highlights, then you will lose the details of the flower petals.

Thanks for the advice stephyloulou and in response to the blue thing i already noticed that and planned to crop it. Zitro Joe how did you know what camera i was using and other specifics, im sure its probably simple but it was like OMG ESP to me. I think i am allowed to enter two pics and was going to choose the sunflower head and the sunflowerseeds with okra pods contrasting. thanks everyone.

KellyB,
It is called 'Exif data' The picture is embedded with information about the camera and the specifics surronding it; aperture, shutter speed, metering, ISO, focal length...etc. I have a program that automatically reads it. I just rt click on the picture and select 'Exif data'. If you are running Win XP and the picture is on your hard drive you can see the exif data. Right click> properties> summary> advanced.

There you go!

I liked #2 (okra pods, etc.). Have you viewed it in black & white? Might be effective.
