Were you asking about 'episodic'? I know what that means, as do many others. 'Scandescent' on the other hand... Poulsbo has always felt sorta like the Fraser Outflow area when I've been there. But I haven't looked at any climate tables for it--at least not any where I remember the data. One year Vashon had snow that missed surrounding areas. Storms vary in how they hit, your 2 inches(!) was probably just the normal noises. Maybe some other time it will snow 2 inches in Ballard, be 50 degrees F. in Poulsbo.

Singapore Obtusa has got a slight lemon scent smell to me. My sniffer is not always 100% trustworthy. Some people would say because it spent too much time buried somewhere without sunshine but that's another story. I first saw that S.O. about 10 years ago and thought it was huge then. Its in a residential neighborhood near Waimea Kuaui on the way to hiking trails that I like to explore. Didn't really know the variety or anything besides "White" back then. I would estimate it to be 40 yrs old based on the house and surrounding neighborhood. Barbra, its probably a larger growing tree so put it on your back tier of Plumerias. Have a great time at the coast. The weather will be perfect.

I don't remember any houses during the era looking like those either. But they are an update mix of what was. None make me feel comfortable and bet very expensive to transition. I was middle class, so most homes remembered were still plain Janes in the 50s, 60s. Into the 70s, working and raising kids took more of my life than decorating. We did have a huge macrame the size of one dining room wall. It was in the 80s though, either we missed the era or macrame lasted a couple of eras. Loved it then, but couldn't do this again. We also had gold mixed shag carpet and matching heavy drapes, plus a plaid sectional. Along with a carpet rake. And, a couple of walls of grass cloth. Knowing the paste used to put that stuff up, I bet the later owners had a problem on their hands getting it off. I do remember a lot of wall paper going up in my home, but is was more subdued and smaller prints. Bell bottoms were awful and polyester casual suits. Even the kids wore them. I wore a lot of poly outfits too....blouses were really ugly. Let's hope this part never shows up again. The best of the best is jeans. Think about how long they have been around and are still in style.

nickel, you've pushed me to the edge, along with your cohort Nicole. I don't love these but I like them a lot. Our washer along with the German Persil we've used in it since Day One 20+ years ago, as per the manufacturer's recommendation. Cleaner wash results cannot be found and the combo is so gentle that our washed items last significantly longer than they used to. It runs off a 220 volt connection because it has an industrial strength water heater. The highest setting is 190, we rarely go above 140 (which we use for white towels) but we do sometimes.
