Split Personality

A few winters ago while on the way to work after an intense ice storm I spotted this young Birch Tree split perfectly in half. The sun was just up and I don't know how long this beautiful act of nature could be observed. I am thankful I seen it and had my camera with me.

That is amazing how it split right in half.......I love birch trees, one of mine finally died and needs taken down, but others live on!

Great picture! I'm glad you had your camera with you. I always see great things for taking a picture and I don't have my camera with me.

NSM, give Levi a call at this Web site. He's a really good guy. His prices have gone way up since I dealt with him, so he must be doing well. But he's the sweetest guy. He can make you a table with your design. You can brainstorm with him about what you want. And his prices are very reasonable. He's in Montana. I'm going to order a headboard for my bed from him. Tell him the woman from Cape Cod referred you, the one he dealt with about three years ago. He should remember. Here is a link that might be useful: Levi at lonepinelodgepole

Split personality exterior. Have to replace siding. HELP!

I would probably continue around the house with the same color as the front. Match colors in a house paint for the new HardiPlank can be had for the solid color stain for the front. Solid hide stains can also be matched to other palette colors. A complementary color or tone can be used on the gutters and fascia board to emphasize the horizontal lines and give your house width. A splash of color could be used on the front door. Paint stores often have palette brochures of exterior colors with suggested color schemes for siding, trim and openings.

Split personality or Yin and Yang?

The non-matchy-ness doesn't bother me as much as the TV placement; it reminds me of my sister's house LR setup - I got a terrible crick in my neck trying to watch their TV from the couches & always wound up sitting in a straight backed chair in the middle. Of course if it's only 2 people, they can both lay down facing the TV, but any more than that becomes a problem.

marciasc: A friend of mine carries his camera everywhere now. He is in the towing business. A few years ago he got sued over damage to a car. Since then he takes a photo prior to doing anything at any incident where he is called. Saved him numerous bucks. The other day my son was coming back from work when he spotted a waterspout approaching the Skyway Bridge in St Petersburg. He had his camera with him, sold the photo to the St Petersburg Times that day. ALWAYS HAVE YOUR CAMERA AVAILABLE! One never knows what the next minute may bring. As the Boy Scout Mottoe says, BE PREPARED.
