When I see the title "The Rite of Spring" I expected soft, calming music. Not even close!! So violent and chaotic. I loved the music but those Teletubbies are freaky looking creatures!! Ha, ha!! Well done.

I get it Funky. What I like about this one is that it is a stretched canvas, no glass, which keeps it simpler. It's going into a small upstairs bedroom that has the original 1910 stained wood beadboard, so I think a poster size print will bring a pop to the walls without needing anything else. We'll see!

What a wonderful trip, Spanish! Asakusa was our favorite neighborhood in Tokyo also and the Edo museum impressionist paintings made a huge impact on DS2’s appreciation of art—even more than seeing similar works in European museums. Years ago I took him to Japan to study Go and study the architecture of medieval castles. We loved everything about Japan but our favorite was the children— they were so adorable and well behaved and were fascinated by his red hair 🙂 He was a devotee of Miyazaki so we spent a day at Studio Ghibli in the Tokyo suburbs. It was so popular we had to make reservations months before the trip with the Japanese tourist office in NYC. Noting all this to say we had a completely different experience from your lovely trip, and it is remarkable that such a small country has so much to offer visitors of every age and interest. I’d go back in a heartbeat and do a completely different itinerary, focusing on Kyoto. I’m a bit envious of your solo travel; you are an intrepid soul!

Oh, my, ilikefriday! What great lessons for your son, though, to see how to manage the unexpected. I had to google both Winnemucca and OB2 scanner. My DS is a fan of road trips, which is ironic because he's a city dweller and doesn't own a car. He's currently on a 2-week road trip through Canada, and the last photo I received (yesterday), he was standing on a glacier near Banff, on his way to Jasper National Park. He started from Chicago a week ago, and is covering a lot of miles. I'm going to look into an OB2 scanner for him for the next trip, as it will bring me some peace of mind at least. I hope your husband sorts out the car situation. I did not know that about gas in Iowa and Nebraska!
