Market Day - Oct. 31

Another cold, drizzly day this past Saturday selling at the market. I didn't even set up my table at first, then Suzanne came over and offered me a corner under her tent - bless her heart! She and her husband were selling their Brunswick Stew by the bowl hot and by the quart chilled. They did pretty good with it because they were offering samples to those folks that were interested.

I did not sell out, but didn't do too bad. And several regulars took my flyer offering to take orders after the market season ends.

Alli had scarves, gloves, and hats made of alpaca. I was ready to buy a pair of gloves for my cold, cold hands. She had a baby alpaca born last week and had a pic on her phone.Such a cute baby.

I came home at 12:30 and took a nice long nap under a blanket with a warm doggie curled up behind my legs.

Teresa, I almost posted today to ask how your Saturday market day went. Sounds like you have met some nice people at the market.

It's great that you are going to have orders for your bread in the off season.

Teresa, I look forward to your Monday Market reports. I even thought of you while doing some Leaf Peeping when we came across a beautiful bakery in a tiny town on the coast of Maine. One of my travel buddies took pictures for me so I could share with you. She took a total of 8,438 pictures (I mean, how many pictures of orangecolor> and redcolor> trees do we need??) and it will be a while before she can whittle down to yours.

FYI, the town of Mebane in North Carolina is pronounced "meh ban" accented on the first syllable. I have heard people with this name as their last name pronounce it "mee bane" accent also on the first syllable. But, Terri, I have never ever heard it pronounced "meh ba nay!" Also ROFLMAO! I can just imagine the locals also ROFLOL if they heard this. An aside, I have always been a stickler for correct pronunciation of names and places. I grew up with a name many people butchered and got really wrong. I even correct people calling into our office switchboard - ha! They should know how to correctly say the name of the person they are calling to avoid embarrassing themselves. Teresa (not "Thursa, Thelma, Theresa, Patricia" or other wrong examples!)

Linda glad your sewing room is coming together well, can't wait to see your pics of it! Lois congrats on retiring! Well earlier this week I finished the Butterfly Baby Quilt, so I have been elated about that. Next week S-I-L is going to make an embroidery label for it and then later this month my Mom is going to visit me and she will take the baby quilt home with her and deliver it to my cousins and their new baby. Thursday night at 6pm my son comes to me and says he wanted to be a fox for Halloween. So Friday my hubby and I put together his costume which I had to make from scratch, but it turned out great. Then he spent last night at his friend's house trick or treating in their neighborhood and his parents threw a Halloween party, then his friend came home with my son and they had a sleepover here ..... they are elementary school age kids ...... so my son had a wonderful Halloween. This week after I finished the baby quilt, I started crocheting ribbon bookmarks that will go in Christmas cards that my son will give his teachers and staff at school for Christmas presents, the teachers always love them. A note about the alpaca fleece: Alli shears her animals and sends in the fiber to a group that spins and knits or weaves the hats, scarves, and gloves. Then she buys back the items wholesale and marks them up to sell them. They were a very good quality. She also had the most adorable teddy bears. The alpaca bears were about the softest thing I have ever come across!

I had mentioned to her that I am going to learn to weave and she said I could place yarn orders with her orders and get the alpaca yarn wholesale. Woo hoo! I've wanted to learn to weave since my college summer spent at a girls' camp that had a whole cabin full of looms. So now I have plans to meet a dealer in Charlotte and start to learn on a small Cricket rigid heddle loom. I'm so excited!
