I have a sweatshirt that a friend gave me in 1991. Still wear it and considering its age, it looks pretty good!

My kind of guy! I have a pair of finger nail clippers that my husband gave me when we were dating about 45 years ago. You could say that they are a little dull. My husband is always telling me that we need to throw something away and get a new one. It's a joke between us now when I tell him that I haven't gotten all of the good out of it yet.

My mother has two real oldies-her Sunbeanm stand Mixmaster and her Hoover vacuum. Both are over 60 years old. She got married in 1946 and they were wedding gifts. The mixmaster has never been repaired. The vacuum has neded belts. As for me, I have a "tent" dress I wore in high school hanging in my closet. I graduated in 1970! I can still wear it but the sleeves are tight-my arms have, lets say, gotten more muscular through the years.

A big Sabatier chef's knife my dad gave me in the 1960s...... my 1980s-vintage KitchenAid mixer....... Le Creuset cookware from the 1970s....... regular cast iron frying pans that are older than that....... oh, and my piano, a Steinway grand that was my mother-in-law's wedding gift from her father in 1922.

And my DH had tools that were probably older than all the above.

I'm sure there's a lot of things but the one that comes to mind is a couple of clothes baskets that I bought 35 years ago. One crack in the plastic but still works fine.

A Sears heating pad--the kind for sore muscles, etc. We have let it run for months on end for nursing kittens, sick cat. Still works. It must be over 30 years old.

I have and still use my mom's Revlon cuticle nippers. I'm 70 and I know she had these when I was a child.

I hope OJ doesn't see this....lol.

Just yesterday, I was using my mixer and looked at it thinking that we had bought this in 1960, and its still going strong. Only one I have ever bought, better knock on wood, doubt if a new one would last this long for me.

I have some baking pans that were my aunts, a potato masher, and a bathroom scale, and I adopted them when she died about 1964. I have no idea how long she had them.

Flour sifter when I first got married, over 50 years ago, can't replace that. Inherited my Dad's tools and he passes away in 1984 and they were old then but sure do work good as some of the garden tools also.

Pants of a custom-made suit that they made for me in Hong Kong in 1957.

It had satin inserts over the knees that make for less adjusting when sitting down, that are shot (can I repair them?). And a couple of moth holes ... not in strategic locations (if I remember correctly). Let them out recently (as in at the seat, not like dealing with the cat) ... and they're still tight.

A car that's 23 years old.

A Mixmaster that was Sue's, with an important part of the part that attaches the beater to the stand broken ... don't know whether I can fix that. Which makes it sort of useless at present, unless I hold the beater in my hand, but then it's a bit difficult to get it to make the bowl rotate.

I'm sure that there's some other stuff, but I can't think of any at the moment: one of those senior moments, I guess.

I still wear a pair of old sweats from high school, 1982. Who knows how old they actually are since I "borrowed" them from an old boyfriend. I have baking dishes that belonged to my grandma that she was using in the 60's.

I have this brown and gold stocking cap that my parents gave me for my birthday back in the late 60's. I still wear it. Last Winter Dad and Mom drove by as I was at the end of the driveway getting the mail. Mom rolls down the window and says, "I see you're wearing your new stocking cap." It's still the warmest stocking cap I've ever owned.

The coffee pot that my mom and dad received as a wedding gift in 1955 is what I use pretty much daily.

The dresser that mom/dad got for me when I was 12.

The Kitchen Aid mixmaster that I received as a wedding gift in 1978 (first marriage). Lenox dishes from that same wedding.

One more...I wore a skirt to work today that my aunt purchased in 1985. And the skirt received compliments as being "so stylish"!

Boy, I could go on and on with this one.

I have two breadpans that belonged to my grandmother, and that's a lonnnnnnnnnnnnnngggggg time ago.

A small rectangular hand mirror with leather on the back, given to me by a girl in high school (1969 or 70?) whom everyone else pretty much made fun of and ignored. I don't know why she gave it to me because we weren't friends but lived in the same neighborhood. I've had it ever since. Even in my desk drawer where I worked for 30yrs. The mirror finish is all blotchy now, but I cherish it and think fondly of her every time I look at it.

Like lesterd, I probably could go on about other household items - and clothes!

In 1967 I bought a set of stainless steel cookware. A salesman came to my apartment to demonstrate them to my roommates and me. I remember that my mom told me they would last a lifetime. When you are in your mid-twenties, you can't imagine anything lasting a lifetime. These pots and pans have survived roommates, a husband and a child cooking on them. One of the fry pans is a little warped but I did that by not realizing I turned on the wrong burner. I see no reason to replace my cookware after all these years.

DH still has his barber kit from when he went to Barber school in 1961, the poor clippers are on their last legs now. About the time he got out of school long hair was the vogue so he never practiced in a shop. He did save us many $$ as he cut the children's hair, my hair and even his own. He never went to a barber in our 49 years of marriage.

I love my potato peeler that my mom gave me when I got married in 1961 and it's still sharp as ever.

I am still using some of the cookware and utensils my Mom got for a wedding present.....that was in 1926.
I swear DH has clothing hanging in his closet older than I am.
He is very frugal....to a fault.

I still have a nightgown I bought before my first child was born and that baby will be 34 years old in August! And it is not a rag, it still looks great. I guess it's true, they just don't make 'em like they used to, LOL!

I still use my mix-master, a wedding gift from 1967 and have most of a set of dinner dishes and silverware, also from 1967. Use them every day...

I have my Grandma Bessie's oven canner and I know she used it back in the 1930's. It is made of several pieces. I do not remember her canning in it, but she took it apart and there are two very large pans then that can be used for baking. I remember her using it for her yeast rolls.

The 'shower cap' style hairdryer I took to college lasted well into my marriage.

I scoop the dog's kibble out with a 1/4 cup steel measure that was my grandmother's. Its painted handle is attached with two rivets that look like they could support 20 pounds! Inside it has "A & J" in a diamond and says "Made in United States of America". I'll bet Grandmother bought a set of these measures in NYC before WWI.

I use my grandfather's shaving cup as a pencil holder on my kitchen desk. He died eight years before I was born.

My DH also has a schick injector razor, he likes the disposable cheap razors now. You can still buy the blades on eBay and occasionally run across them at the store or sales.

Well, probably my favorite is a mixing spoon I got from my mother, who may have gotten it from her mother. It's at least 60 years old, and very heavy. None of my new spoons come close.

I still wear knit slippers that were a gift in 1976 from a man/wife who made them for hospital and nursing home patients. 34 years later they're still going strong. I don't know what kind of yarn they used but it sure is indestructable.

My uncle used to do odd jobs for people and he helped a lady clean out her house of the old furniture. His job was to take the old stuff to the dump. Uncle wasn't quite with the program mentally, but he had the sense to take a two-piece small china cabinet to my mother, rather than trash it. It's in my dining area today and I love it.

I have teaspoons that my GGM used to give us for Christmas and birthdays. They're sterling silver and engraved with my first name and the date she gave them to me. They don't match and I used to have them in a spoon rack but they're a PITA to keep shiny. I wonder why I keep them.

How about those "holy" drawers, Ed? They've got to be at least 50.

My dad still uses his old vacuum cleaner from the 1950s. It's one of the round Hoovers that opens in the middle so it's in two halves.

I have an antique "secretary" desk - the kind with the book shelves to the left and a drop-down writing surface on the right, drawers under the writing surface, pigeon holes behind it. This old baby was left in a building my father bought before I was born--probably 1940's--and has made the trek from Iowa to California to Arizona with me. If I could figure a way to do it, I'd have it buried with me...lol

I am still using the Oak Table that my husbands father and mother got when they were married in 1918.Have 1 chair that came with it.I remember MIL telling me that they use to cut up butchered hogs on this table.Amazing isn't it.

The mirror that hangs above my dresser in my bedroom is probably from the 1920s or earlier. I found it in a plastic garbage bag stored in my mom's garage about 30 years ago. She said it was from a house they had lived in in Hollywood. My grandma took care of a rich old man and when he died, his nephew, told my grandma to take whatever she wanted.

I still have and use a Hamilton Beach milkshake machine from the 40s, my 1970's Kitchenaid Mixer, several Tupperware items from the early 70s, my Corningware and several Henckels knives. I also have cast iron skillets going back to my grandmother's time.

We have an album collection from our teens going back 45 or more years that we play on a turntable we bought in the early 80s. I have 45s going back to the late 50s/early 60's.

My round entry table goes back to my grandmother's living room. I remember it being there when I was 5 and it was already older than.

They don't make things nearly as well today. I get so disgusted when I have to shop for a new item. Especially in cookware. They anodize or coat everything with teflon or dip it in porcelain and call it "professional" and "designer" and add a humongus price tag.

Jeans are so lightweight I used to have blouses that were thicker. Shirts are so thin they would have been in the rag bin in the past. Sheets are slinky slime and wear out in less than a year even if you pay a high price for them. I still have pillowcases from the 40's that have been bleached, washed in hot water and used that show little if any sign of wear.

When I was 15 my grandmother (Nan) started a hope chest for me. 38 years ago.
She bought a set of silverware and a set of dishes which I still use daily. Also a couple of platters bought at a yard sale, so who knows how old they really are.

I love my orange Tupperware container that my brown sugar is in. It never hardens. 34 years old.

I have a couple of night shirts from Junior high that I got in the late 80's and my girls wear them. Most of my dishes and silverware are from auctions so who knows how old they are. I have the knife set my folks got 30 years ago and use daily. I guess the oldest is my DH's grandma's silverware that she got as a wedding present in the 20's. She never used them and gave them to us as a wedding present 11 years ago. I haven't used them much but they sit in a chest in the front room.
