You can tell that the author of that poem didn't live where the temps were over 100 and the humidity was waaaayy up there. That's a lovely poem, but it's hard to grasp such a view of Summer when you are dripping with sweat.

Its absolutely amazing the differences in results because of our zones. I have the complete opposite of you guys. My Jades colors are the best during the late fall/ winter months, when our temps cool down at night. In my case I lose almost all my color, and like littlebird's jades they lose almost all their red tips and yellows and becomes mostly green starting early summer. Best I could come up with is our night time low's are in the mid to upper 70's.I have them in full sun 6-8 hours a day,and I water them only when they are dry. So I know that's not the problem. Come late fall(Nov.), when our night time temps starts dipping in the 50's is when I start to see the beautiful colors begin to peak and by winter it it is the prettiest. I do leave mine outside almost all year, except for the rare freeze(2-4) days a year. Good luck with your jade littlebird...Please give us an update when you get your colors back.

Littlebird, Unfortunately, I lose all my beautiful colors on my Hummel's sunset starting around early May through late November. For me it doesn't make any difference whether I let it go bone dry, put it in the sun 8 hours a day and NO fertilizer...once my weather starts to get mid 80's and my nights stay at 70° or warmer consistantly , I start losing my beautiful colors. Too hot and humid...mine pretty much goes dormant this time of year too. At least for me in FL, I need the combination of cold nights and full sun in conjunction to get my Hummel's sunset reach its gorgeous colors, at least that's been my experience with mine. This was taken in end of February... This was taken today...

Interesting flower.........I would love to see it without the backing light. Colours aren't well defined and captured that way. But I can see it must look great naturally.
