It was pretty fast and easy...

I think I'll start making some now for gifts next year.

Made with old wool sweaters that have been washed in 'hot' water....to felt them.

I have barely half of the second loaf left, and that's only because we haven't been home for two days! We came home last night an hour late to feed the bunnies, who were patiently waiting, or maybe not so patiently, as they were each sitting by their own dish waiting, and didn't move away! They usually come to the door of their house when we come home. Then we were gone all day again today, so none got eaten. Tomorrow will finish it for sure. I may try seedless blackberry jam, or maybe blueberries in it next time. Tami

The problem I have the most with these cupcakes is the frosting tends to dehydrate and get very crusty very quickly. It still tastes great but I want it to keep the creamy texture it has when I first make it. I assume it's the Bailey's evaporating. I've done it multiple times with different proportions and it always does the same thing. It's the only frosting I've ever made that does it. The only thing I've found so far that works is making the frosting a day ahead, giving it time in the fridge to evaporate and get crusty and then rewhip it with a little heavy cream. That seems to bring it back for good. I'm also considering heating the Baileys up on very low heat to allow most of the alcohol to evaporate so I still get the flavoring without the dehydrating effect. No one else seems to have an issue with this so maybe it's just me! But these are definitely one of the favorites in my baking business.

Thanks, ladies, for your comments on the cup cakes. The round top smooth blue with white ribbon was done when a customer asked for a cupcake that looked like a Tiffany box, so she tried different tints until she came up with that one. Then she did the blue square box "just because." She enjoys a challenge. The other blue one is "hydrangea" and I think that one is super beautiful. I have watched Cup Cake wars a couple times and just watching it makes me nervous; can't imagine what the contestants are going through. She has mentioned shipping, but not ready for that yet. She has done a few wedding cakes. Actually her DH is an amateur, but very good, photographer, and they together have done several weddings, including all the refreshments. Msmagoo, she is in McGaheysville. Are you in that area? I'll pass your comments on to to her. I know she will appreciate them as much as I have. Sue

Well thank you! Pattycakes, the bathroom tiles are ceramic. I've seen a similar treatment in peel and stick, though, and it's just beautiful. In fact, Georgiagal has black and white peel and stick in her laundry room. Beautiful! Annaclaire, I did all of it....with MUCH help from the Home Decorating forum. (I swear there's hidden genius on that forum.) Poodledoodle, yes the cabinets are white (cream, actually) with a glaze. We painted them, then went back and glazed. To glaze, I slathered the glaze into the corners and crevices, then gently wiped it off. For the broad surfaces, I used an old paintbrush, and did long strokes, then again just gently wiped it off. The glazing process is more of a glaze removal thing than an application thing. Again, the bathroom tiles are ceramic. I must have some hang up for checkerboard patterns! Downsouth, we're moving (only about 1/4 mile away) because we need extra space, and wanted a larger pool. We bought a house that I'd been eyeballing for close to 2 years. It needs to be completely redone, so I'll have fun sprucing it up and giving it some style. The paint color is Benjamin Moore "Spice Gold". It's one of my very favorite colors, as it's a deep, rich color, but not too dark, and it's very neutral. It only took me having to paint the dadblamed kitchen 11 times before I found that color!

I found some instructions online...I'll give you a link.

But I didn't do mine like the instructions.

To start off I took the middle blue piece and sewed like a finger out of a glove then stuffed a little of the scrap insid it.

Then I cut a piece of the white long enough to wrap around the finger (+ 1/4 inch seam on each side) and wide enough to reach almost to the top of the finger and back down again after being folded. (after it is folded it should be almost as high as the finger)

The next piece is blue and I followed the same directions as above. When the piece is folded it should wrap around , have 1/4 inch for seam on each end) and be almost as tall as the white.

I did that until it was as fat as I wanted it to be..the put the folded cuff part on the outside so it would look like the cup cake paper.

I ended up with five "sleeves" and the outer "cup cake paper"

Trim them to be even at the bottom...(or tuck it up inside)

Then I made loose stitch in the bottom of the "cup cake paper sleeve" and pulled it. Kind of gathering it so it wrapped around the bottom

I took a piece of cardboard and cut a circle to fit bottom,but a little smaller. Then cut a piece of the sweater that match the outside a little larger than the circle. Tucked the edges of the sweater around the circle of cardboard and hand stitched the covered circle to the bottom of the "cake".

The bottom of my "cake" is about two inches across. I cut the circle about an inch across...

Add me to the email if you send it . This was terrible a few years ago and they lost a lot of posters. People over in the bird community almost rioted since it interfered so much with the intent of so many postings.
I'd rather pay the $15 a year Spike used to charge than being subjected to this free adverising I think some even went to a different forum - non-ivillage and never came back
