My sweet Chica is very sick..

She has fluid ( a lot) around her heart.It's pushung her trachea up against her spine which makes it hard to eat and breathe.The vet put her on Lasix and 2 other meds. He said this will get the fluid out and she will be able to eat and breathe again.She's old,but he feels sure he can help her.She's just a little thing...7 1/2 lbs.And a little love bug.This is the one we took in when Larrys Mom died.Hopefully she perks up soon.

Oh...she's a Chihuahua...but she's my "kid".

aaawwwwww Chibby...feel for ya there....nothing wrong with her being a Chi...Bud *was* one of those types too~~I wouldn't have traded him for all the others in the world...I lost him last May....Hugs to you and hoping your little one gets better

Catherine im so sorry for your loss :-( I love chickens as pets and we had ducks too. I love that special little soft cluck they make just when they're with you. They are so soft to cuddle too. Silky feathers. She couldn't have had a better friend than you and im so sorry for your loss of such a dear friend. At least her suffering is over and you always did the best you could for her. Yes, I have a fan in the laundry room which is about 5x7 circulating the air. Most of those you see are pepper plants/flower plants. As far as the tomatoes, I was trying my best to transfer all of the original soil so I didn't disturb the roots and some of them I didn't get as deep as I had hoped (those trays are shallower) though they all got roots all the way to the bottom which seems good! But yes, wasn't sure I could bury all the way to the leaves, after they get stronger I'll do it. They are stiffening up now that they have soaked in the water. Its probably at the lowest 55 in that room at night, and closer to 70 most of the time. Is that okay/ The heatting pad is still on my seeds I'm germinating, and its helping give the small room a little warmth I can feel too. Its getting down to 10-15 degree's on and off the last few days here. Burrr. Ungarden related news, we're closing on our house Friday. Would an open shelf/table in a morning sun location + 2 T8 Lights be best inside or an enclosed closet with a fan/light? Thank you for all the help guys, I know I must seem like a clutz. Whats happening to my roses? very sick

Thank you for all your support and good wishes when I was feeling desperate and panicky. And I am sorry i did not get back sooner. Some of what I have been able to figure out is good news. a) My roses do have severe, I mean all leaves gone, black spot. This rose nook looks so sad. I could not find the Bayer product suggested but I found an Ortho product with chlorothalonil in it and is supposed to take off black spot and I have started to use it. The literature on the bottle says it is supposed to take care of spores too. Over 5-6 days I did not see much improvement. The black spot keeps spreading. One other thread on this forum suggested Mancozeb as the best product to use. I just order it today. Lets hope for the best. I am taking care of the mulch. b)The other damage, as suggested by rosefolly and oldroser IS chemical damage from sprays and new growth looks good. Because of what looked like black spot to me I had asked my husband to spray a complete fruit tree spray also recommended for roses. But he must have used the wrong concentration. Anyway not too much damage done. But I am wondering what is going to happen to the roses that have lost all their leaves? Essentially no growth and strength from this summer? Or actually a set back? Should I cut back the canes that lost all the leaves? Will this stimulate robust canes to grow in? Any other information regarding black spot is all too welcome. noinwi, thanks. I couldn't sleep Saturday night. I did feel little feet walking across the bed as well as hearing the sweet sounds of kitty talk when the house was quite. I don't know if I believe in visits by those who have passed, but my mind was certainly on Peter. gssh, I am so sorry about your cat as well as the heartbreak and pain you went through. Aw Chubby. We just found out Scamper has the same thing - cardiomyopathy. Fortunately we caught it early when he was having his annual teeth cleaning.

He's on Lasix and Atenolol. The Lasix is a diuretic that helps them pee out the fluids. The Atenolol helps the heart contract stronger and improves circulation to keep the excess fluid flowing out through the kidneys.

Scamp and I will keep Chica in our thoughts. Tell Chica that she has a net buddy (even if Scamp is a cat...sssssh!)

Poor thing - I bet she is feeling pretty lousy. Hope the meds help out soon. My little 7.5lb Chihauhau would probably be the same way. They are so tiny that there can't be room for fluid or anything else.

I'm glad you caught it in time. Congestive heart failure can be sneaky. It took my little "Rookie" (a Lhasa Apso) and my cousin's cat Moke. Hope all is well and the little nipper is back to normal in less time than she is tall!

I'm sorry she is struggling with this. I sure know how hard it is when one of the babies is sick. I hope she does well on these medications.

I hope the meds give Chica some relief Chubs.
It's hard to watch them be sick, isn't it?
Chica is lucky.
She has you to keep an eye on her.
