I failed to answer your rose question on the other thread, and I apologize for that. If it weren't for another forum here, I would not know. It is Dr. Huey. At least that is what I was told by someone who seemed to know what they were talking about. It was the same rose, looks a little different in the photo below, that was the backdrop of the one photo of my granddaughter. I've had to severely prune it back and it needs some tlc, new shoots are above the kitchen window, but it got so bad my lawnperson couldn't get the mower past it. I was going to ask my son to dig it up, said I wanted to see it bloom this year, now I don't have the heart to dig it up even though it only blooms in the spring and is mostly used for rootstock, another thing I learned here. My oldest daughter gave it to me years ago when she was little, there was a Queen Elizabeth grafted to it, that died, and this one came up from the roots.

Yes, it looks like the good doctor is growing in your yard. I don't care what anyone says about him, he is a pretty rose and if one of my roses died and he grew I wouldn't be too bothered by that.

Hope you don't have to shovel prune him. I have a Queen Elizabeth rose that has been growing under my bedroom window for about 7 years now. In fact I was trying to get a good picture of her tonight showing how tall she is but alas that skill alludes me, just can't get those kind of pictures right.

Oh my goodness, how on earth did I miss this post??? Thankfully a friend sent me the link. I don't know where to begin to thank you all for the beautiful pictures and good wishes, they really all made me smile and wish I had more time to come here. I have severe spring fever and cannot wait to get out there digging and planting. I will surely share lots of pics of my roses with you all when I get a vacation this summer. Buddy continues to thrive right along with me here in our new home, life is good but living alone means I need to work a bit more than usual, hence my absense from here, but please be assured that I think of each and everyone of you often. Life will settle down into a better routine soon I am sure but for now my goal has to be work and buying new roses, LOL. Thank you all for thinking of me and remembering my special day. I did take that day off from work and spoiled myself rotten with some movies, a good newspaper and a nice meal with a little cake and strawberries, it was truly an enjoyable day, so thanks one more time, your pink roses make me long for mine to be in bloom soon with 27 new additions expected this spring. Not sure if you have found your Valerie June rose yet, but I purchased mine at Thomas Roses in Woodside, South Australia. They will also post interstate for you as well. It is a beautiful rose. Cheers Paulli

Wendi, Thanks for the info. Usually with plumies sometimes you get something exceptional when you have to wait for blooms. My rule of thumb for the past decade is if the plumie dosnt bloom in my patch by the 3rd or 4th year, I give them the boot. I gifted out Mukundan's Orange Splendor and Choco delight from India, Richard Criley Dwarf because they did not bloom for me after 4 years. The person I gifted them to lived in a warmer area in OC, well the plumies must have liked it there as they bloomed for her after I gave them to her towards the end of the season.
