I love the rain too and parts of my garden are loving it too. I recently planted some tomato starts and a container of basil. The basil got totally hammered and the tomatoes are drowning. We had hail here at my house in NW Phx so that was not so good either. Some plants in containers I forgot to bring in and they are much too wet. In the end, I love the rain. Hi Karen, It is raining! My pots are outside right now up against the garage wall. The overhang (roof) from the garage gives them a bit of protection. Yesterday, I put out two brugmansia pots to get some sun -- I forgot to bring them in and hope the rain didn't knock down the buds and blooms on them :-( There is always something! Going to see The Wicked today at 1 PM; hope the rain doesn't create a problem with us getting there.

Agree - keep an eye on it and water when it tells you to. The dead blades might be a sign of a fungal disease from the incessant rains. I've got it in my lawn in San Antonio but not in Bandera. Do you want to take a picture from about 3 inches away and post it for evaluation? Our rain finally ended after fortnightly drenchings since October. Temps are in the low 90s again, and my grass is just now looking poorly. The last rain was 2 weeks ago exactly. This is the first time ever I've gone into July without watering at all. I'm going to unroll the soaker hose tonight and set it to a slow trickle (8 ounces per minute rate). I literally have the water police living on my street and driving past several times a day. Husband and wife work for the property owner association's private water company. They're sticklers. We're only allowed to water on Tuesdays for 2 hours in the morning and 2 in the evening. The place looks like a water park with everyone watering at once. I'm hoping the super slow trickle soaker approach gets past their scrutiny. They flag high water use over 3,000 gallons per week, so the slow soaker won't even come close to that. I'm just trying to keep the grass alive, not the weeds. When you subtract the weeds there's only 100 square feet to irrigate. So the point of all this is to say watch the grass and water as much as you need when you need to. Deep soaking rains should have left deep water in the soil. The grass, not the soil, will let you know when it's drying out.
