In ancient times when man had not gotten around to inventing the wristwatch, the most reliable source of telling the time was the sun, moon, and stars. It is more than likely that each farmer had a planting calendar based on the moon phases, and there would be different variations depending on the geographical location. As their calendars were passed on through the generations they evolved to cover the different crops they tried to grow, and the more productive farming techniques used. It was noticed that different plants grow better when they were planted during different phases of the moon. Presumably, each of these phases imparts an influence on the way vegetation grows on the planet, through whatever forces may be active. To provide more accurate records it was even noted that certain crops fared better when planted while the moon was in a specific constellation, not just light or dark. Can you really dismiss something out of hand, simply because you don't understand it? In that case algebra, corporate sports and Miley Cyrus have no meaning for me, even though they all influence the world significantly. Steve, who means no offense

When I think of a moon garden I think of scented plants first rather than just white and green. I like jasmine, pflox, and brugmansia. I think of a place to sit and enjoy the peacefulness of the night in the garden, so whatever is planted there can be enjoyed while relaxing in the cool air. I like the sound of running water too, not a torrent or a waterfall, just a soft splashing sound and the peeps of frogs and crickets nearby. This is the garden I have, and it's a half-moon shaped area inside the turnaround driveway in front of my house. The long straight side that faces the street of the half-moon is enclosed with a brick and iron fence. The half-circle side is marked out with stone that edges the driveway. There are two entrances to this garden, the main entrance has an arbor, the second entrance is just a little footpath. The paths allow you to see all of it, but also require some back-tracking so you get to see some areas from two directions. One circular path has a stone castle in the middle that is inhabited by fairies, or gnomes, I'm not sure which, since I've never seen them, but their tracks are all over the place. They leave their "stuff" laying around, ladders, chairs, dishes, stuff like that. They're kinda messy sometimes, but I let them stay anyway. Passers-by often pull over and peek through the iron fence since there is enough color and interest for it to be eye-catching during the daytime. Nobody stops at night though, because they can't see how wonderful it is in the dark.

The round top windows aren't the curremt trend as alluded to above. Personally I think they will come back into style at some point as items that add "richness" generally do, but for now, most folks are getting rid of them as opposed to adding them. More importantly, I also agree with the sentiments that adding a transom (whether round, square, or whatever shape) won't make a huge difference in there as you already have a lot of glass on that wall. Reframing those openings is most likely possible, but would be cost prohibitive IMO for the small difference. Perhaps there are other walls of the room that windows could be added and make a greater difference, otherwise some of the advice given on the furnishings, carpet, etc would help as well
